As the year comes to a close and we get busy and stressed with preparing to celebrate Christmas, this Japanese shopping centre brings us an important reminder:
For real. Jesus took all my sins and gave me new life & then he took my all my dreams and gave me a new life plan. I’ve no guilt & zero regrets.
Don’t come to Jesus simply for forgiveness. Abandon your game plan. Let him completely re-orient your worldview & your set of preferences. It’s his kingdom.
The worst thing about the Shinkansen is that it’s such a smooth ride that you can get loads of work done, but Mt Fuji keeps peeking out from behind stuff and distracting you. #MtFuji#shinkansen#JapanLife
@Dizzydennis@AbroadInJapan If you’re going to Odaiba, you need to go to Oedo onsen monogatari: it’s an onsen plus an indoor matsuri-themed food court, outdoor river/ashiyu, and ‘fish therapy.’
Maybe that’s obvious, but somehow I’m only just experiencing it now. I guess it took a few years living in Japan for me to accumulate enough books to reach the tipping point. But anyway, if you run a bookstore in Tokyo please don’t get mad at me for tachiyomi.
Having moved into a small Tokyo apartment I’m genuinely thinking that the reason for ‘tachiyomi’ (立ち読み - reading books/manga in stores w/o buying them) is most Japanese homes just don’t have space for bookshelves. #TokyoLife#alifeoverseas
And/or the only place you could fit a decent sized bookshelf would be setting yourself up to get at worst crushed and at best showered in books if there were an earthquake at night.
@SatoshiJournal@EveningStandard 1. People in London speak with a London accent. For a proper British accent you need to go up north.
2. Must be lots of northerners visiting London today.
3. ... yeah OK that one’s true.
A fellow Brit just asked for directions to Tokyo station and I accidentally told him the wrong train so I guess now I’m moving to wherever is equidistant to Japan & the UK. #VeryBritishProblems
Probably just me imagining things but even Tokyo people feel a bit more chilled in Autumn time. It’s like everyone is happy to take time to enjoy the few months between being far too hot and being a bit too cold. Maybe. I don’t know. I just love Autumn!
Some people argue that Biblical faith is incompatible with the dinosaur fossil record, but personally nothing moves me to praise and worship God quite like the fact that velociraptors no longer exist.
In Japan we don’t do #DaylightSavingTime so you’d think I wouldn’t have to worry about clocks going back, but I’ve the whole day fighting this low key fear that I’m going to get the wrong time to Skype my church in the UK. #missionaryproblems
