Sometimes when reading a book my evaluation goes from, “I should recommend this book…” to “with qualifiers to certain people…” to “I need to warn people of this book!”
Doing the will of God is not pursuing a mystical course designed for me before the world began, but rather making Biblical and Spirit-led decisions in every situation set before me.
I felt like this snapshot was a handful on purpose from our great God. This is a long distance picture that we found of our son as a recruit in USMC boot camp. Please pray for Joel.
I love the Bible questions from my kids! Our supper conversation tonight was about rewards in Heaven. Gardner, 11, asked “if a man witnesses to someone, and then he dies, then the man gets saved 5 years later, does he still get a reward after he’s been in heaven for 5 years?”
This was a year ago… Sunday marked one year since my last Sunday as pastor at Grace Baptist Church and the week that we moved to NC. Much has happened in the last year and the LORD’s direction has been very clear in our family. We are eagerly anticipating this coming year!
We just finished the ordination council questioning of Matt Smith. There is an inherently spiritual excitement in participating in that NT precedent! My heart and head are edified each time I’m privileged to sit on such a council.
Just finished volume 1. I’ve read the entire narrative at least twice, but listened to it this time. Shelby Foote is the best author on the Civil War, in my opinion.
Just told my youngest, Gilead (6), that his mom and I are going to Israel next year. His first response, “can I go too?” He then asked if places like Bethlehem and Nazareth and Jerusalem are real and still there? Yes - very real and still there! Keep asking questions, buddy!
Almost as bad as someone not washing their hands in a public restroom, is someone not wiping down (with provided Clorox wipes) the machine they’ve just used at the gym….
I found a little something encouraging in the news this morning! “In other amendments during the vote-a-rama, the Senate voted 97-3 to support keeping the U.S. Embassy in Israel in Jerusalem; ...100-0 to oppose the defunding of police...” ~Tyler Olson
Meet Mr. and Mrs. Micah Villanueva, the newly married couple. We did not lose a daughter; we gained a son! Emalyn wore her Mother’s wedding dress! God gave us a wonderful day lifting up Christ in the worship of a wedding ceremony!

I’m not a Christian, but it seems to me that bona fide American greatness required Christianity. It lent capitalism higher purpose & concern for national interest, inspired defense of our freedoms, constrained our selfishness, & put people w different politics in the same pews.
Bitterness is not always the result of an offense; sometimes it is caused by the failure to look to Jesus and live in grace (Heb. 12:14-15). Years ago, I went through a bitter stage and I couldn’t figure out what had provoked bitterness in me. These verses answered that question.
