Northern #Ghana, particularly the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and Tempane districts, faces rising threats from violent extremist groups in the Sahel region. These areas are vulnerable to cross-border risks and internal conflicts fueled by chieftaincy disputes, ethnic tensions, and socio-economic challenges.
As part of the #PreventionFacility project, @UNDPGhana, in partnership with the Savannah & Upper East Regional Peace Councils and funded by @Denmark_UN, @LuxembourgUN, and @rok_mission, is working to empower #women and #youth as peace agents and trusted messengers.
Through training, awareness creation, livelihood support and strengthened Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) mechanisms, this initiative will promote social cohesion, socio-economic resilience and sustainable #peace in vulnerable communities.
Stay tuned for updates! ✌️

"Empowering women and youth as peace agents is not just about #inclusion—it’s about resilience. In communities like Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and Tempane, their voices are critical in identifying early signs of conflict and building sustainable peace from the ground up. Through this training, we are strengthening local capacities to resist violent extremist narratives and fostering a culture of proactive, community-led solutions." ~ @MSiasim, @UNDPGhana's Peace & Governance Analyst, speaking at the workshop on "Preventive Approach to Protecting Development in the #GulfofGuinea" happening in Accra, Ghana.
Day 2 of our #PreventionFacility workshop in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba continues! 🙌
Today, we dive deeper into the drivers of radicalization and further explore how women & youth can lead in prevention efforts using early warning.
Join us in fostering dialogue, promoting resilience, and protecting our communities from violent #extremism.
