โWhen we flatten all ministry into one undifferentiated category, we subtly undermine the beauty of Christโs ordered church.โ
@jonwoodyard argues that discipleship does not equal shepherding, and that Scripture reserves the office and function of pastor-elder-overseer for biblically qualified men.

The hymn, "Be Still, My Soul," has been such a comfort, reminding me of the Lord's sovereign reign as friends depart.
๐ผBe still, my soul: when dearest friends depart, and all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shall you better know his love, his heart, who comes to soothe your sorrows and your fears.
๐ถ Be still, my soul: your Jesus can repay from his own fullness all he takes away.
@Lord0fValinor@harrisonjlang@kyleworley Agreed. My church does not have women deacons. As I read the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 for Elders and Deacons, I see little wiggle room. I know there are arguments for Phoebe, but that doesn't seem to be normative.
Agreed. Your actions were not extreme, but were they helpful? But as far as it is up to us, Scripture encourages us to respond charitably to all, especially those of the House of Faith. That's all I am getting at, really. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Re: Jen Wilkin, that was not Kyle. Sure. He should call out his friend, but he is not directly responsible.
I recognize that there are many churches in the SBC that have female deacons and that the BFM2000 is not binding in that regard. Female deacons are not a point for breaking fellowship as if one were a heretic.
As for your terminology, I find no fault, though others might.
Regardless, I am glad to call you a brother and fellow laborer for God's glory.
Grace and peace in Christ.
