The Odyssey proves you can make a first draft film script and direct with minimal effort and little emotion as long as there's good marketing and credit in the bank audiences will infuse it with their own ideas to make it seem much better than it is. What a poor amateurish film.

@paulmakesmovies The script and the work with the actors specifically... the cinematography is ughh messy at times, it's okay for the most part but pretty disappointing when you have all that budget. I guess having a tonne of different formats does not help. Good: sound editing and music.

people don't understand this moment because nothing is felt. Yes it could be revenge, but I don't FEEL like Odysseus is vengeful, I don't feel rage either. It's poor acting/direction. At the end of the film it makes a little more sense but I've already spent 3 hours not feeling..

This nolan was missing in the Odyssey. None of the character exchanges were done as well as this. It feels like a lot of focus went on the big set pieces and then Nolan for these kinda scenes was just like "do whatever you want, you'll do good!".

anyway, i felt The Odyssey is an artistically sauceless film with off-putting pacing and bad creative decisions that strip the original text of its nuance and reduce it to a simplistic retelling of a layered classic. I'd personally be embarrassed if I wrote such a version of it

Only made more ironic are the replies because I like pretty much every other Nolan film even Tenet (which has many issues haha I confess I still enjoy it) this is the first one that does nothing for me, if you like it good for you lmao I don't care. It's good cinema is happening.
