Stacking up more and more debt, against what is in all practicalities a national infrastructure asset, delivering a poor service (sewage dumping), charging customers with no choice 44% more - whilst then taking cash out of the top as profit - this feels… <insert word here>
"Southern Water plans to pay out £275m in dividends despite rising debt pressures."
So @SouthernWater say they need to borrow £4bn and @ofwat is about to approve putting up customer bills by 44%, oh and they still managed to payout £275m in dividends. You're being had.

This peerage stuff is more and more like kids playing dress up. Other than, it costs us all money, and a bunch of unaccountable people have control of our lives. How very 2024…
@jessphillips Everything he says tests the boundaries of reality. ‘Will of the people’? Unelected PM aside, this wasn’t in the manifesto in the last GE. Yesterday it was ‘when I came into this job inflation was 11%’ - reality: his time as chancellor was responsible for the countries £ health
@Tweetisaurus I completely agree. My worry is the left of the Labour Party appears happy to throw the baby out with the bath water - because he’s not left enough. Leaving us with far right. Which is just self defeating in the extreme
@itvnews@Peston Robert I suggest this is why ‘politics’ as it exists is actually the problem. You are perpetuating the problem. If Davey has to fall - why is your introduction not including everyone that touched it? It’s because you’re creating a party political issue
@Tweetisaurus I’ve not yet understood the rationale here - but recognise it’s a thing. If you’re on the left of the Labour Party, surely even a Kier central courtship, is better than an increasingly far right Conservative Party. Even ignoring for a bit of stability being better than chaos
Surely this sounds like a good thing at this point. A full reset is what I would do with any project currently reeling from such mismanagement and unclear direction and leadership
@hmtreasury The tax burden is UP on working people. Why is a Civil Service engaged in party political propaganda?
Did you issue the same slogans when taxes rose or fiscal drag imposed?
@hmtreasury@OECD@cabinetofficeuk how is that last sentence appropriate for a civil service? Particularly when the first part is so disingenuous given years of fiscal drag and tax rises
It’s such total bollocks. Packaging up something that nobody wanted, that nobody needs, as some kind of benefit. It’s all that’s left after all the other snake oil evaporated.
