My #PMQs today on Mental Health Waits
Delighted to hear clear NHS access standards to reduce waits will be part of the forthcoming MH Strategy
Delivering parity of esteem will take time & investment in expanded services like those coming in Sunderland. Today was a step forward.
#SAFC going the extra mile to light up the Stadium of Light red tonight in support of @SRTRC_England’s ‘Wear Red Day’.
Thank you for your 30 years of leadership standing against racism in Sunderland.
One team: on the pitch and in our city 🔴⚪️💪
#WRD26
Proud to show my support for @SRTRC_England’s ‘Wear Red day’ & their important anti-racism education work: yesterday in Parliament and today at the Stadium of Light.
Thanks to @SunderlandAFC for their continued 30 years support in tackling racism in our city and beyond.

Fancy that… our Reform Council leader campaigning for the very same Tory Government he now runs a mile from, that shafted Sunderland with austerity, that signed terrible asylum accommodation contracts costing taxpayers billions while losing control of the immigration system
As Reform UK’s Sunderland Leader @CllrChrisEynon blocked us, he won’t see that we are reminding everyone that he used to campaign for Boris Johnson, for a Conservative government.
He would really hate this, so whatever you do, don’t also share it.
Every seat in this stadium represents a child who could benefit from the stability of a loving home.
We’re launching a national campaign to help create 10,000 new foster places and give more children the chance to thrive.

Enzo Le Fée lost his father to suicide in 2021.
For World Mental Health Day, we asked the @SunderlandAFC midfielder to share some advice with his younger self...
This is an unimaginably difficult and painful time for all involved.
My thanks to @northumbriapol and all the emergency services involved in the incident response and investigation.
Sunderland is in shock at the tragic loss of Luke, Jackson and Zara in the awful incident in the River Wear yesterday.
My thoughts and deepest condolences are with their families & friends, and with fellow students and staff at Sunderland College. (1/2)
I’m aware of the serious incident in the River Wear this afternoon.
My thoughts are with everyone involved and their families, and with the emergency services responding at the scene.
We are responding to a report of a car entering the River Wear near Wearmouth Bridge in Sunderland. 📍
Emergency services are currently in attendance.
We would ask members of the public to avoid the area. ❌
Important conversation with #SAFC legend Gary Bennett.
Look out for our discussion about working as a team, racism, education and Sunderland’s future 👀🔴⚪️
@CllrChrisEynon@ReformUkWear The facts Chris:
- 2 SAFC players have been racially abused this year
- Residents of colour report racism
- You still support ‘melt Nigerians to fill potholes’ Cllr Gibbins
- You pulled support from Benno’s 30 years of anti racism work
What are you doing? Show some leadership
"A massive step back" is what Sunderland's Gary Bennett told me at the SoL today
Wearside Reform has pulled council's plug on Show Racism the Red Card
The council leader says it will not support politically charged groups, something it denies

#SRtRC visited Barbara Priestman Academy in Sunderland to deliver a series of anti-racism workshops.
The work was part of a growing number of enquiries from specialist provisions for support in educating their learners about racism.

@DaveFromUpNorth No. The English football pyramid is one of the great institutions of our national life and I’ve always understood the blackout as having a key role protecting it.
Decisions have to be made in support of the national game as a whole, not just the biggest clubs.
The new Hummel kit is another example of how #SAFC has reconnected with fans - what a contrast to the Donald/Methven era.
David Bruce played a key role in that. One of our own.
Commercial performance underpins on-field investment but never forget: football belongs to the fans.
Kemi lost her head at PMQs - and afterwards too.
It's not the first time. She's compared me to a Gestapo officer.
I wonder what it is about a working class woman driving record investment in state schools by ending private schools' tax breaks that the Tories hate so much.
