Tenzing Hillary Airport sits at about 9,337 ft (2,846 m), with a 527 m runway and an 11.7% upslope. Nepal’s aviation authority specifically lists the airport as suitable for STOL aircraft such as the DHC-6 Twin Otter.

With mountains surrounding the airport, this approach demands precise flying, good weather awareness and strong knowledge of the terrain.
