Always remember,

On the long runs. George’s was real good on mediums. He was actually the fastest in FP2.

George made a small mistake. Car is okay. So remember the car is actually good. So we do not have much to worry (hopefully).

Remember this in the end still a new track and there has been many overtakes too.

Race and Quali is different.

So remember there is still high chances for improvement and getting a podium or even a win. 🙏🩵🥹

GR and Toto have both stayed exactly the same.

Toto has never truly seen F1 as a fair competitive sport. What he actually seems to enjoy feels more like an extension of his background in finance: using interests, relationships and resources to control the situation, as if once those things are under control, the outcome should naturally follow the way he expects. In that kind of logic, when other people are supposed to step aside and when they are allowed to fight back can all be decided in advance.

At Imola in 2021, GR was still driving for Williams when he crashed with BOT. Afterwards, Toto criticised him for failing to see the “global perspective” because the car in front of him was a Mercedes, and even linked the incident to whether GR could get a Mercedes seat in the future.

Of course, GR was at fault for the crash itself, and he has regretted the way he handled it ever since. But there was absolutely nothing wrong with him wanting to fight for that position in the first place. At that moment, he was a Williams driver first and foremost, simply trying to fight for that one point for himself and his team. Even with a Mercedes ahead of him, and even with his own future to some extent in Toto’s hands, he still chose to fight.

And that’s why I don’t think GR has changed either. It’s not that he doesn’t know which choice would be safest for him. It’s that even when the circumstances are against him, and even when fighting back may lead to nothing, he still chooses to fight.

GR: Yeah, I mean, you know, definitely Kimi’s in control of it and, you know, he’s deserving to be in control of it. For me personally, I’m not even thinking about a fight or a comeback or anything. I’m just focused on taking it race by race and trying to maximise every single weekend. You know, he’s performing incredibly well.

It’s going to be exceptionally challenging to overcome that gap, so I’m just sort of accepting that it is what it is and I’m just going to enjoy it from here on in and try and win as many races as possible.
