I'm thinking about that right now w/the many Israel-Hamas posts on every channel, and how that affects both growing support and also growing polarization. I hope we're never past taking in information that may even be counter to what we're familiar with, & that we can hold space

Studying neuro-economics at Stanford, I conducted research around the Mere Exposure Effect and how that plays out in how we value things. It's a psychological phenomenon by which people tend to develop liking or disliking for things merely because they are familiar with them.

What's interesting is not affinity with more exposure (hello marketing + ads), but that if you're slightly negative or unfamiliar (like a meh song, or eating olives) you'll grow to actually like it over time. HOWEVER, if you're past a certain threshold, you may grow to HATE it.
