Overlooked Dangers of AI: Consciousness (1/10)
The current discourse on artificial intelligence (AI) significantly underestimates the implications of integrating AI with biological tissues.
This oversight misses a pressing concern: the emergence of superintelligent AND conscious creatures.
This essay aims to clarify the potential dangers (and some benefits) of these creatures.
@EmaadTDBN@Indian_Bronson Saw an example of a fully EV city block somewhere, east Asia I thought, and it was quiet and peaceful enough that I thought would consider living in a city long term if that could be status quo
Agreed here, thanks for presenting other considerations
Part of Tesla’s FSD advantage was tons of recorded driving data
More and more meetings, screens, etc. being recorded
And we often feel compelled to give the models more context since it helps
Institutions will want to turn over everything for better solutions
Is the contract we’re making to be recorded all the time (we’ve already had half a foot in that door for decades now)
@OliverSherouse I’ve started doing this too for anything outside the quote itself. I think in older British English they might’ve done this? I’ve read a couple articles and books before the turn of the cent. Where they follow your convention. Makes much more sense to me. We’re quoting after all!
@naval@SCHIZO_FREQ Strange chicken and the egg phenomenon here. I suspect the public has a lot more appetite for originality than they're (we're) given credit for. And that could be very lucrative too. A24 doesn't seem to be doing too poorly.
@tszzl Yep. I would distinguish at this point between synthetic minds and synthetic life, if only because the latter presents unique challenges beyond the former that we are not yet equipped to handle (imo). We have enough on our plate with synthetic minds atm
@TivadarDanka In some respects yeah but they very often do not comply with my requests, deliberately obfuscate, or hide the ball because they’ve been either trained or instructed to do so
Very hard sometimes to get a level and clear answer that doesn’t intentionally omit key details
@tqbf Thx. Idk about all the other rules, most writing I enjoy and respect doesn’t follow them!
But as far as making our way through the great slopification of content the first one might be of use
