They lose because they don’t realize
they must win before they enter the room.
This is the foundation of The Art of Negotiation.

Negotiations are not won in the room.
They’re decided before you speak.
Courage, leverage, and clarity determine outcomes
long before deals are made and contracts are signed.
Most professionals don’t lose because of poor skill.
That profit became part of the money we needed to rent our first office.
And the landlord of that office? He gave us an AMC contract worth more than the rent itself.
All from one “small scrap job.” All from a decision that didn’t make sense on paper.
Opportunity Doesn’t Always Look Like Opportunity
A few years ago, we bid for a scrap elevator in an abandoned building. Our offer was rejected — someone outbid us by a few million.
That evening, something in me said: Match their offer. Take the risk. Think long-term.
We took the risk. We got the job. And here’s the twist:
There was a category of iron we didn’t count during our costing… and that single oversight turned the entire project into one of the most profitable deals we’d ever done.
Financially, it didn’t make sense. It was early in our business. Best case? Break even. Worst case? Lose money.
But I wasn’t thinking of that deal… I was thinking of our name, our reputation, and the doors that visibility could open.
No silly answers, please share your thoughts, i'm open to learn more, I will share my own thoughts in the next posts.
