I like my coffee milky, beer dark and desserts chocolatey. Digital editorial manager/UX/content strategy. Formerly a magazine editor. Autoimmune: MCTD. She/her.
This is your friendly reminder that I am “the vulnerable.”
Me, the person who can be giving a presentation to 500 people one day, and be in a hospital bed with a raging community-acquired infection the next.
I am the immunosuppressed. It’s not just the elderly at risk.
I am the face of #MAID (assisted-death) in Canada.
As a 42 year old woman with a rare complication of lupus + iatrogenic injuries I will only cost the 'system'. I want to live but can’t get the care I need + have been approved for MAID.

🧵🧵🧵 #cdnmedia#cdnjourno this is my friend who has been utterly failed by the #cdnmedical system. They've let her fall so far through the cracks that #MAID feels like the only option.
I don’t know where to begin to explain where I’ve been for the last year + a half. I’ve been approved for #MAID after a nightmare of medical malpractice/negligence + severe medication/iatrogenic injuries. I don’t want to die, but can’t live like this or get adequate medical care.
@davidsunlee This happened to me at a sushi place when they forgot one part of my order. Gave me free drinks, dessert, handwritten note. It was NBD to me.
“It’s very exciting for us to actually find something that’s wrong — that it’s in the patient’s lungs and not in their head,” Parraga said.
WOW. Just wow. Medical gaslighting at its finest!

There is a new Canadian research trial looking at patients suffering from post-COVID syndrome — a study that has identified a potential key culprit causing some people to continue experiencing breathing issues months after contracting COVID-19.

@TheSeatedView @Farfbaz Was just going to say this. Mine started last night. Seized right up, woke with migraine and unbelievable fatigue. I've done nothing but rest, nap and read. We're all in the same shitty weather system 🥴
This is the face of a patient who, when first diagnosed with a large uterine fibroid in June 2021, was in a position to receive a minimally invasive hysterectomy. But now, thanks to Covid delays, needs a full abdominal surgery bc it has continued to grow while waiting. #CDNhealth
@LuisaMuhleisen The thought has crossed my mind, but I'm so far down this road already and I really like my surgeon. I know her hands are tied. I'm sorry about your friend, I hope it went well for her.
Take care out there: Rain and freezing rain are moving through parts of southern Ontario this morning, leading to slick, deteriorating road conditions. #ONStorm#ONwx
