listen it was a dogshit season. There is no hiding from that. No one denies it. But if you're a red and you're not bang up for supporting the team to go again next time around, I don't know what to say to you.
We're not City, we're not Chelsea, and who the fuck wants to be?
James Milner is a manager's dream. The work ethic, the constant need to push teammates to be better, to keep heads grounded, to remind them to savour the highs, to be the coach's voice on the pitch and in the dressing room. It's hard to put a price on that
Gone from 'Carvalho is leaving because Klopp doesn't like him' to 'Liverpool reject offer for Carvalho because they want to keep him' in 24 hours.
Twitter during transfer season is something else π
Gakpo has 0.43 goals per 90 in his first half season in the Premier League. Works out at 16 goals across 38 games.
For a first season in the Prem, in a team with a very dysfunctional midfield, that is extremely promising.
We also need to build confidence because our squad, especially in attacking positions, is stacked with talent.
Salah, Nunez, Diaz, Trent, Jota, Gakpo, Carvalho, Elliott.
Strengthen midfield, build momentum and confidence, there is no reason why we don't have enough to challenge
4 key factors for our poor season:
β’ hangover from a great 21/22 season that was so close to being godlike
β’ a decline in standards from players who have typically overperformed
β’ a physical decline in aging key players
β’ Injuries to key players
Solution: need new players.
Considering the midfield he came into, and the demands of his manager, and the fact he turned 18 a couple of months ago... Bajcetic is fantastic.
Composed, brave, natural technique, super confident, ton of potential. We have a real talent on our hands.
I don't know what the action plan for Klopp could be beyond bringing in new midfielders as soon as possible. And that's what frustrates me.
Training camps, training sessions, matches, simple time... it just doesn't improve.
@Celesti99333571 I would say we're in a very strong place. We are worth billions, have some of the world's best players on long contracts, have a reputation of success and can attract high quality players. We're better than we've been for decades.
I believe in supporting my team to the death as much as the next red. I've seen much worse and I can accept much worse. But to blindly argue against the facts of this season, the obvious truth about where we are right now, doesn't make you a better supporter.
@Soilsum depends on your choice of comparison. If you want to compare it to Man City, West Ham or Brighton, it might not be. I don't know why you would want to do that but it's your life.
Comparing it to another teammate in the midfield, like Thiago, then it tells a story.
It is hard watching right now though, isn't it? I had to fight off the thought that a draw is the worst result because it meant another 90 minutes of pain and frustration.
