I went to some pretty terrible public schools (lowest math exam scores in the province gang!) and got into university because I had sky high grades. I'd be tapping out at grade 12 if I had to engage in a civility contest/debate to go to university
Cities should be allowed to build housing for adults like this.
We do it for hostels, and it can serve as "housing of last resort." Very cheap rent, by the bed. There'd have to be strictly enforced rules if paired with strangers, but it's not impossible.
My work's out here channelling RFK Jr. when they instructed us to "monitor the situation" and "try to preserve your food" after finding out the break room fridge has been sitting at 8C for "an unknown amount of time"
Out of pure curiosity, what do you think traditional Mizrahi food is? My family brought their za’atar recipe with them to Israel, not the other way around
Students for Justice in Palestine negotiated an end to their encampment at UC Riverside and their biggest get appears to be a process they hope will lead to Sabra Hummus being banned from the dining halls. https://t.co/HAKJ4iukZH via @TPM
On the third day of Princeton’s Hunger Strike for Gaza, as the temperatures fall and rain continues, @Princeton admin refuses still to allow our strikers to have tents, leaving them huddled under umbrellas, vulnerable and unsafe. Shameful and cruel.
I’m turning 26 in a few months and my parents are stopped pressuring me to get married so I think they’ve finally realized being gay is a lifelong thing
Reporter grills Columbia student after she demands the university help feed protestors occupying Hamilton Hall:
"It seems like you're saying, 'we want to be revolutionaries, we want to take over this building, now would you please bring us some food'."
“Nothing bad can happen if I make maror outside”, I said, unaware that in 10 minutes the wind would change direction and blow horseradish gasses directly into my unprotected face
When I was too little to go out by myself, I only got to play outside if a parent could take me to the park and most of the time they weren’t available. I spent most of my early childhood playing indoors
Also please tell me, a Mizrahi FSU Jew whose community is centred in Israel, how it fails to keep Jews safe? I’m open to being wrong about my lived experience and familial history 2/2
But seriously what model are you thinking? A plurinational state? Subnational sovereignty like Indigenous people in Canada? A Kurdistan situation? Hong Kong? Vibes? 1/2
Since ppl are committed to reading this tweet in bad faith-Im not saying every Jew outside Israel is safer or that I dont care abt the safety of Jews outside US. My point is that Israel isnt keeping Jews safe & Jewish safety in the Levant can come in different forms
Absolutely incredible how my dad’s been living in Canada for almost 45 years, speaks English fluidly with a strong Canadian accent, yet somehow manages to screw up even the simplest of English names
