In the Portland conflict, it may be that the antifa's started the violence by throwing things, but that's no justification for police in riot gear charging the crowd, beating the COUNTER-PROTESTORS. Police chief has ordered investigation into police behavior.

In my hometown Portland, white nationalists came together for 3rd time this summer, aiming to provoke violence. Don't be surprised: despite Portland's liberal reputation it has long history of bigotry; in the 1920s Oregon, and Portland in particular, were major KKK strongholds.
