I liked this better when it was an AIM profile. The mullet was real and it was glorious. ‘93 New Hampshire Punt Pass & Kick State Champ. Co-Owner of @Cards_Czar
@SwamileeSports@itsgeoffwilson@Topps@cards_czar@Fanatics Disagree. Panini offered their product on their site right under the price of the big sites at release. I’ve received countless more Topps boxes at wholesale than Panini ever offered me through their distribution channels. And then there were market rebuys.
@SwamileeSports@itsgeoffwilson@Topps@cards_czar@Fanatics I’d rather get my spend up with topps than buy from someone I don’t know on eBay.
And yes. We have plenty of customers that are willing to spend that. We had to put limits on people Wave 1 and we still sold out in 36 hours.
@SwamileeSports@itsgeoffwilson@Topps@cards_czar@Fanatics Blame Dave and Adam’s or Steel City who sent an email out saying they were paying $800 for a box of Hobby before the product released. Topps was just reacting to the market. If we can get it, why can’t they? I actually have no problem with that model
@SwamileeSports@itsgeoffwilson@Topps Or you cost average like we plan on doing at @cards_czar . Get the second wave at the new price and don’t increase our box price all that much. Use some of the profits from Wave 1 to limit the price increase on Wave 2. This has been the strategy for most shops for years
@rollincrutch@Topps Check any of their social media posts for Hobby Rip Night or other Hobby related events they put on and you’ll see plenty of smiling customers features. Topps isn’t in our stores. They are relying on us to get pics of those hits. You’ll see plenty here: https://t.co/kwPJXTvyEh
@rollincrutch@Topps Fair. I was talking everything other than retail. When it comes to Hobby, Jumbo and Delight. Yes. Hobby Stores and breakers make up the ecosystem.
That being said. Nothing I can say will change your mind. Just rest easy knowing this TB12 went to a customer.
@rollincrutch@Topps First, that’s a double negative.
Second, card stores and breakers make up 99.99% of the boxes being sold. Topps isn’t sending certain boxes to stores or breakers. They are sending the bulk to them because they make up the bulk of the ecosystem.
IN CONCLUSION: they will hit more
@Ole075@midwestboxbreak@BALLBAKEDTAKES All accounts get the same product at the same price. The big accounts do not get a discount. They just get more product.
@justinwells2424@OffDaHook35@Topps As a collector for over 30 years, a shop owner who hates Downtowns and remembers looking up prices in Becketts, I 100% understand where you’re coming from. Just the complaining to complain because something is new is probably my least favorite thing in the hobby.
@justinwells2424@OffDaHook35@Topps Ya I mean I get it. But at the same time they want brand continuity from year to year. At this point it’s just people complaining to complain. Like all these people complaining about a $350 Chrome Hobby box. Ahem. Have you seen Prizm since 2020? $350 is an absolute steal.
@justinwells2424@OffDaHook35@Topps We are all of a sudden complaining about the same template across sports? I present to you Panini Prizm which has been doing this for years but nobody said boo.
