Separation of powers: a fundamental principle of the U.S. Constitution that divides the gov. into 3 branches: legislative, executive, and judicial to prevent any one branch from becoming too powerful:
Legislative: Makes laws
Executive: Enforces laws
Judicial: Interprets laws
