A former Anthropic engineer built an AI graph for $6/month that catches failures expensive evaluation systems miss.

The crazy part?

it doesn't use a retrieval layer.

Just 7 nodes and one rule: every decision has to remember why it exists.

Here's how it works:

The graph isn't an execution pipeline.

It's a memory system for reasoning.

Seven nodes run the workflow:

→ INTENT defines what the task is actually for
→ DECOMPOSE breaks it into steps and records assumptions
→ WORKER executes one step without seeing the rest
→AUDIT checks the output against its assumption
→ RIFT compares the current work against INTENT
→ LEDGER records every decision and why it was made
→ ROOT racks dependencies and reruns affected steps when assumptions break

The important part isn't the graph.

It's what happens when something goes wrong.

Every step carries the assumption that made it valid.

If that assumption becomes false, the system doesn't restart everything.

It traces the dependency chain.

Then reruns only the work that depended on the broken assumption.

He replayed a month of agent runs:

4,100 steps.

380 were built on an assumption that became wrong by day three.

The old pipeline shipped all 380.

This system knew exactly which steps were affected.

No full restart.

No blindly trusting old outputs.

just targeted invalidation.

Most AI systems move outputs forward while the reasoning disappears.

This one makes the reason travel with the result.

That's the breakthrough.

The system doesn't just remember what happened.

It remembers why it happened and what becomes invalid when that reason changes.
