Local elections in MCR tomorrow.

Working at a Polling station I will spend my day discussing the Voter ID law with people and having to enforce it.

Please be kind to polling staff-they didn't put the law in place, but we have to enforce it.

Through February, I'm working with Salfords Prevent and community cohesion team to present to over 450 people about the risks/concerns coming from #AndrewTate & the rise of violent misogyny on social media as well as other extremist ideologies coming from that.

Working in Channel which is part of Prevent...these stories where it appears someone slipped through the net, is not only scary and saddening but a reminder of the worse case scenario for every person referred to #prevent. Thousands of referrals each year to Prevent are supported

1. Every time a terrorist perpetrator is found to have a footprint in #Prevent, it causes much pain and soul-searching for practitioners like myself. Have we failed? Should we have prevented tragedies? Without commenting on specific cases, here are some thoughts:

Pt2. opinion as a practitioner within Channel, is being led by people feeling that sharing their racist/discriminatory views is acceptable. We saw these views at the Brexit vote and they have continued on social media.

Whats shocking reading this @guardian article is that they incorrectly describe what the Channel process is... Channel is Local authority led safeguarding... Not the riskier cases... That Prevent Police led cases.

In working as part of Channel and all that comes with that... No open discussions and limited promotion. Just feels a little crap and I should be shouting about it but cant.

Prevent/Channel is an amazing area to be part of, but constantly fighting negative press around it.

15 months of lockdown/WFH has worn me completely down.

Feel unmotivated when sat at home on my own, easily distracted and its getting worse again now the weather is nice outside.
