We condemn the attacks by Polisario Front in Smara.  

Such violence threatens regional stability and the progress made towards peace.  

These actions are inconsistent with the spirit of the recent talks.  

The time to end this 50-year-old dispute is now.  

As affirmed in UNSCR 2797, the Moroccan Autonomy Proposal lays out the path to peace in Western Sahara.  We call on all those resisting peace to genuinely commit to a brighter future.

Keir Starmer has made great play of his lawyers credentials.

Before he told the Commons that Mandelson had been given “extensive” security vetting and that “full due process was followed”, did he do his due diligence? Did he check that in preparing to use these words he was not going to mislead the House of Commons? Did he or number 10 check with the Foreign Secretary that these words would be true and not misleading?

If no assurances were given he must have known that he ran the risk of misleading Parliament. If assurances were given to Number 10 who did they come from?

All these questions must be answered if he is to continue as Prime Minister.
