WHICH EPL side is elite at REDUCING SHOT QUALITY?

There’s been a lot of discussion around Aston Villa “overperforming” XG this season, but far less about how they defend.

Two teams can concede the same quality of chances yet still face different shots.

To show this, we compared xGA conceded vs PSxG faced to look at what happens after a chance is given up, and how that differs across teams.

PSxG − xGA
• Negative = opponents turn chances into worse shots
• Positive = chances become high-quality attempts

Villa rank best in the league at reducing shot quality.
Manchester United rank worst.

You can’t draw a single, absolute conclusion for why this happens but part of Villa’s edge is their ability to force shooters into worse attempts, alongside the occasional benefit of poor finishing from opponents.

Logging off again after posting this. Just hit Rank A in Z-A battle club season 02 after 2-ish hours of playing. It definitely got harder to rank up but rewards are def better.
