This is bullshit.
What I ACTUALLY said is we "cannot have another left-wing government. But I'm afraid that Reform has quite a lot of left-wing ideas. They want more benefits. They want nationalisation”
I then said.
On "deals, non-aggression pacts and so on....I'm just saying no. It's just no, no, no, no, no, no, no."
John Healey, the former Defence Secretary, has acted honourably by resigning.
Keir Starmer is too weak to cut welfare and fund defence - as I told him yesterday at PMQs.
Only the Conservatives have a plan to put our national security first.
Love that Nigel’s big “gotcha” is mostly a screenshot of the office address and letter heading 😂
Let’s help him out by highlighting the actual contents he didn’t bother to read.
For those who prefer facts to rage, our detailed legal analysis on PSED is in the thread below 👇
Richard Tice declines to say whether a Reform government would strengthen or weaken trade union laws, suggesting it is instead about having conversations
The arrested Sudanese man was an 'asylum seeker'.
He entered Britain in February 2023, immediately claiming asylum, according to the police.
Who was the immigration minister at the time? And then when the man was granted leave to remain in our country?
Reform's Robert Jenrick.
Who was Home Secretary?
Reform's Suella Braverman.
They were responsible for our borders.
They failed, in the most horrific way, with the most horrific consequences.
A Restore Britain Government will abolish the entire asylum system.
No more asylum seekers.
Anyone who entered our country illegally will be deported, regardless of current status.
Enough.
Restore Britain will not fail you.
Slightly disagree - at least from where party currently sit if you're the party strategists a seat that wasn't won in 2019 & Ref came second would always get squeezed
Instead I think what should set off far bigger alarm bells is if party doesn't make progress in Aberdeen South
I have spent my political career fighting against identity politics when it came from Labour, Lib Dems, or the SNP, and I will do exactly the same against identity politics when it comes from Reform UK.
The answer to Black Lives Matter is not a White Lives Matter born of the same racial grievance.
To fix this the Conservatives will stand up for the silent majority who want order, fairness, common sense, and one law for everyone.
Some people collect stamps, some collect train numbers, some collect rare coins, some collect miniature wargames figures.
Reform politicians collect community notes calling out their lies.
And it’s quite an impressive collection!
This is illuminating.
“..oversaw..” that is an interesting choice of word.
Because as Suella knows I did not draft that bill. I did not see it prior to its introduction. I was, as she knows, only asked to take it through the Commons hours before it was heard. Nor was I given any authority to alter it- but I did make asks to do so to the Cabinet Office- to change the gender-neutral language wording to female wording.
All this is a matter of record. As are the names of those that drafted it. As are the members of the PLB Committee which would have cleared it, a Committee which included Suella as the Attorney General. Given that the Bill was about her maternity leave I assumed she would have taken an interest.
Perhaps I was wrong to make such assumptions. And to take her thanks and delight at it being introduced that she expressed to me at the time- in writing- as her genuine feelings.
As I say, illuminating.
Here’s what you could have done: In the Strategic Policing Requirement which you not only published as Home Secretary but wrote the forward to, you could have mandated measures to prevent two tier policing, you could also have convened the police Chiefs Council and challenged factors that might lead to two tier policing. In your regular meeting with the Inspector of Constabularies, who Police forces and PCC’s absolutely listen too, you could have made it part of the inspection criteria..or link some police grants to reform. But you didn’t….maybe it was all a bit challenging for
you in between resigning and being fired. @LBC@Conservatives
Suella, it is undeniable that it has been Conservatives, me and @NJ_Timothy , who have led the fight against the Islamophobia definition (if you listen that is the point I make below). This is going to be as bad for policing as the Race Action Plan.
It is also undeniable that Kemi has led the charge against Critical Race Theory.
She was doing it back when it was hard and unpopular. You know that. Everybody knows it. Nigel is on the record praising her for it.
But now you are putting out ads suggesting she supported Black Lives Matter when she led the fight against that movement. It is a despicable lie, it’s beneath you, and you know it.
