Fists flew at South Shore Plaza today.

A wild brawl erupted inside the Braintree mall, with men and women of all ages trading punches as the fight spilled out of a store and onto the upper floor. Bystanders screamed, filmed, and tried to pull the fighters apart.

A witness, who did not want to be identified, told Mass Daily News they did not know what started the fight.

South Shore Plaza has been the site of previous violence. In January 2022, a 26-year-old Boston man was shot inside a first-floor store in what police called a targeted attack, forcing a mall lockdown. Earlier this year, Braintree police mobilized in force after social media posts warned of a planned "takeover." Multiple other brawls at the plaza have ended in arrests.
