#WorldOstomyDay 💜
A popular topic for #OstomyAwarenessDay is the use of #AccessibleToilets & the disapproving looks or comments many #ostomates have received due to their need to use one.
It’s annoying that we live in an age when people don’t realise that
StomaAwareness day 2024
Wow what a day to be part of such an amazing community of ostomates ranging from all different ages.
Today we went to Liverpool to fundraise for Colostomy UK but 1st of all stopping at the place that gave Jake his life back AlderHey Children's Hospital where we visited jakes best mate Faris. These two have completely different medical journeys but have supported each other from day 1 ❤️
Then we went to Liverpool centre with so many inspirational children and adults where the public were very generous in contributing to our fundraiser ❤️ Minnie mouse made a lovely appearance ❤️
A quick stop at McDonald's to refuel and Jake needed a quick nap before we went to the evening fundraiser which was in aid of A Bear Named Buttony
We met so many new people here today it was lovely to put faces to names who have followed Jake over the years and new people we have never spoken to before.
Jake had so much fun with his brother Luke, Lillie and Leyla trying to flip a beer mat onto a glass. Jake started his journey with Lillie and Leyla spending Christmas in hospital with them when he had his Ace stoma. It's always nice for them to meet up and support one another ❤️
Finally we watched Liverpool be lit up purple for stomaawareness day 2024 ❤️
This all couldn't of happened today without Jessica’s stoma journey mum kim so a big thank you to you ❤️

Today is #StomaAware Day 💜
We spoke to the truly inspirational 10-year-old Jessica and her mum Kim, who shared her journey and the amazing work she's doing to fundraise for @ColostomyUK ✨
Tonight, Cunard Building, @SGHLpool, and @TownHallLpool will light up purple 💜
What does a #stoma look like? How do you change a stoma bag?
These are hugely important questions that help to tackle the stigma around stomas.
On #stomaaware day Emma talks us through her bag change 💜

Bit of an emotional morning this morning, as today is my one year Stomaversary. Doesn’t time fly!
Off to Liverpool later on to meet some of my heroes/heroines. Really looking forward. #doyouseeme#StomaAwarenessDay💜
Great to see @bottomdoc on @BBCBreakfast this morning for #stomaaware day and @ColostomyUK . My story was featured as well. It was a chance encounter on X while I was recovering from my stoma formation. I now play rugby Rugby League with @TeamColostomyUK
#doyouseeme#stomaAware
As stomaAware day approaches on Saturday 5th October we are trying to make people aware of stomas using Colostomy UK theme #DoYouSeeMe
Do you See Me ?
At 12 years Old Jake was like any other child at his age wanting to play football, however soon as people knew he had a stoma attitudes changed and he got let down by so many people.
Months went by where excuses were made why he could not join a team and one day all it took was one person to give him the chance to play as a goalkeeper. No questions asked and only support given. He is now in his 2nd season of playing as a goalkeeper at nearly 14 years old and loves every minute of it. He is no different to any other child and didn't miss one game last season ❤️ Just remember having a stoma does not stop you taking part in activities you love ❤️ @ColostomyUK
Today 5th October 2024 is #stomaaware day - great campaign attempting to smash social exclusion and raise profile of those with stoma - please help support the great charity work of @iasupport@ColostomyUK & others locally & internationally - follow them to get better informed
Today is #StomaAware Day. Well done to @ColostomyUK for raising awareness and great to see @bottomdoc & Debs on @BBCBreakfast
The theme is #doyouseeme so here I am, looking rather Saturday morning tired, but I couldn’t let the day pass by without supporting this amazing day!
