So the natural conclusion would be that capitalism is a more robust system, and it is preferable to be a capitalist, since communists will always see their countries fail due to sabotage.

@mattforney @TrentTelenko I think this would reduce oil available to the global market, meaning US producers would have no competition to make them to cut prices. US producers would cut production, costing jobs. And rising oil prices globally would mean that every single thing we import would cost more.

@hecubian_devil I would love to see legislation that requires individual liability for things like AI models and self-driving cars. If you create a model that commits crimes, you are personally liable for those crimes. Can either be at CEO level or require a PE sign-off on products/features.

@harrisonjaime @trouble_man90 @jmart I’d still like to see the primary start with a state like Pennsylvania/Nevada/Georgia. A state that is expected to be competitive in the national election. Kinda weird to position a state that won’t be contested in November to pick which candidate is most likely to win.

@charlescwcooke I’m more sympathetic to participation of kids at the HS level, and different communities may find different answers (e.g. make them post-season ineligible). College is an easy “no”, as these are adults who can find other opportunities to play their sport recreationally.

@Sabinistic It’s not unreasonable to say that athletes must compete based on birth sex and abide by anti-doping rules at NCAA/professional levels. Maybe it’s not fair gto the trans athletes, but no one is entitled to participate in elite athletics. Just go play intramurals or join clubs.

@_celia_bedelia_ Thats just not accurate. From her public behavior, Riley Gaines seems like a trash human who wants to cling to political relevance. But she was much much better than mediocre as a swimmer. Not quite world class (she’s no Taylor Ruck!), but she was certainly an excellent swimmer.

@Ally_Sammarco I don’t think orientation matters, locker rooms are not sexy places, but physiology probably does. Penis vs. no penis seems like a reasonable classification. I can get that some women might not be keen on seeing a penis in their locker room, whatever the orientation of its owner.

@Hopperfan @MainstreamViews Yeah, seems like Jeffries is trying to leave open the possibility of foul play for political reasons, when the most plausible explanation is an accidental (perhaps alcohol related?) drowning. But still fair to say the guy should still be alive and we should know how/why he died.

@davidsirota Is there a detailed proposal for this? Currently it looks like total federal tax receipts in 2025 were 5.26T, and total American health care spending was 5.7T that same year. Subtracting out the existing government outlays, and it still needs something like a 50+% tax increase.

@esjesjesj @ProjectLiberal It’s kinda like the difference between someone intentionally running their ex down with a car vs. driving drunk the taking out a whole family in a crosswalk. Sure, the later wasn’t intentional, but it was a foreseeable consequence of bad decision making and killed more peole.

@SanchoPanzy @bendreyfuss I don’t believe that is their argument. Their objection to Elliot Page was solely due to them being trans, which just isn’t demographically relevant at all. And I don’t believe they would have objected at all to a blonde Caucasian playing a Spartan Queen.

@ReubenR80027912 I’d settle for a compromise where we keep the EV system, but EV’s are awarded proportionally to popular vote in the state. So no change to the small state overrepresentation, but encourages campaigning everywhere instead of in battleground states only.
