Back in 2014, I had a crazy idea. Walk or ride a bike from Jersey City to Manhattan.
It got covered by the BBC, Fast Company, and ArchDaily. It won an AIA award. And I still believe it gets built one day.
Just wrote the full story. Link in bio.

LOVE IT! A public/private partnership to create a community asset. It's what I envisioned with the @libertybridge_, and also with the old Powerhouse in downtown Jersey City. Great job to @Google@nycgov@HudsonRiverPark@beardfoundation and others!

Love it when my friends bring up my concept for the @libertybridge_. Thanks for the constant support to see this vision come to reality, @DougWatler! #pedestrianbridge
LBU (Liberty Bridge Update): Had a call with David Levy from Livable City Group + Eluminat, along with @FehrAndPeers to discuss feasibility analysis, including potential usage of a ped/bike bridge connecting Jersey City to Manhattan. @libertybridge_
PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE UPDATE: I've been quietly continuing the work towards making the @libertybridge_ a realty. I'm going to start posting real time updates of progress and activities. #libertybridge#pedestrianbridge
I love that #HumaniumMetal exists, that it comes from melted down old guns, and that @TriwaWorld is using them for watches. Would love to start seeing other companies follow suit, and add this metal their supply chains -- @IWC@Apple @LibertyBridge_ -- https://t.co/x02Fio8PAB
Even more of a reason to build a pedestrian bridge connecting Jersey City to NYC. https://t.co/jzTV1yUq96 -- #pedestrianbridge#jerseycity#walkingbridge cc @libertybridge_

The well-documented hell of the Brooklyn Bridge in the summertime contains a valuable lesson:
For cities to be truly sustainable, they need to build crossings for their waterways that work for cleaner modes of transportation—not just cars. https://t.co/Lfs7A4AF7d
