Dear @Tesco,
What you see here is called a Christmas Tree.
It's not an 'evergreen tree,' an 'alpine tree' or a 'fir tree.'
Christmas Tree.

SCHMIDT: UKRAINE SHOULD EXPORT ITS DEFENSE MODEL TO EUROPE 🇺🇦🇪🇺🇷🇺🇨🇳
Eric Schmidt says Ukraine 🇺🇦 should license its defense technology to European 🇪🇺 partners and let them manufacture it locally, even if European production ends up costing roughly twice as much.
In his view, Ukraine’s real competitive advantage is not just technology. It is industrial tempo.
Ukrainian defense factories reportedly run long shifts six or seven days a week, with many employees holding draft exemptions tied to their jobs. Schmidt’s point is stark: for some workers, leaving the factory could mean being sent to the front.
That urgency is also driving the race against Russia’s 🇷🇺 evolving drone systems.
Schmidt says at least five Ukrainian companies are testing ways to counter jet-powered Shaheds. He claims Russia has begun fitting Chinese 🇨🇳 jet engines to these drones and that jet variants now account for more than half of launches.
He also says Russia has built a mesh communications network using Chinese components, drone relays and high-resolution targeting video, and could launch as many as 80,000 drones by late December.
The next problem may be even harder. Schmidt believes Russia could be roughly a year away from fielding its own Starlink-like network. If that happens, he warns, the system could be extremely difficult to block and could restore Russia’s ability to hunt targets across Ukraine with persistent connectivity.
Ukraine, meanwhile, cannot use Starlink in the same way for strikes inside Russia. Schmidt argues that this leaves Ukrainian long-range attacks, including strikes on oil refineries, operating with less real-time visibility.
His broader conclusion is clear: Europe can buy Ukrainian designs, but replicating Ukraine’s wartime speed, pressure and production culture may prove much harder.
Law enforcement officers have detained an #FSB agent who guided massive missile and drone strikes on #Kyiv between September 21 and 24. The #ruZZian agent turned out to be a serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who was recently mobilized in #Ternopil region. Shortly after being drafted, he went AWOL from his military unit in Kyiv region, moved into a hostel in the capital, and began looking for easy money.

‼️The Irish Government secured an agreement from Rusal and Aughinish Alumina Ltd earlier this year to place €31 million into an escrow account to help with the clean-up costs of Aughinish post closure.
The problem?
There is a 450 acre, 50 million tonne caustic waste dump on-site containing the bye-product waste of producing alumina.
The escrowed money equates to €0.62c per tonne.
The #Alumina22 campaign understands that the cheapest containment option to deal with this red mud waste, will cost approx €20 a tonne post closure. At 50 million tons, that’s a fee of €1 Billion.
I repeat. There’s €31 Million in the escrow account. The Irish taxpayer is therefore liable, at best, and assuming no damage to the estuary, €969,000,000 in clean-up costs.
Some may say, if you deal with russia: FAFO.
Europeans will look back this winter with deep shame for failing to deliver Russia's frozen assets to Ukraine when it mattered most.

This is what Russian occupation looks like with families driven out, property stolen and corruption thriving.
Russian “liberation” is just theft by any other name.
That fact he felt the need to respond in public, shows that futher investigations into graft and corruption are needed around the Trump and Kushner families.

🇺🇲 🇷🇺 SCOOP: Putin personally raised a multibillion-dollar Lukoil asset sale with Trump's own negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, at the Kremlin on September 5, as part of the same talks meant to end the Ukraine war. The NYT reports the deal is now moving forward, and the buyer group reads like a map of everyone with financial proximity to Trump's inner circle.
The lead investor is Todd Boehly, a $2 million Trump donor with no oil industry background. Alongside him: Qatar's Al-Khayyat brothers, who are simultaneously partnering with Kushner and Ivanka Trump on a luxury resort in Albania, and an Abu Dhabi fund controlled by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed, the UAE's national security adviser, who separately made a $2 billion crypto purchase into World Liberty Financial, Trump's own crypto company co-founded by Witkoff, that generated Trump $799 million last year.
Sheikh Tahnoon is also a major stakeholder in Kushner's post-White House private equity firm. The same handful of people are buyers, business partners, and crypto investors with the Trump family, simultaneously, across three unrelated deals.
Witkoff's spokeswoman says he "has no conflict of interest and no financial stake in this matter." That may be technically true of Witkoff personally. It doesn't address why the people sitting across the table from him in these Ukraine negotiations are the same people building luxury resorts and buying crypto stakes with his son and his negotiating partner's son-in-law.
The strategic logic the administration is citing isn't fabricated, Lukoil's European refineries produce diesel and jet fuel that have been scarce since the Iran war drove up prices, the same shortage we've tracked affecting gas prices and midterm politics for weeks. U.S. approval would also instantly increase the assets' value by lifting sanctions, a direct financial windfall for whichever buyer group wins, timed to the exact administration deciding whether to grant that approval.
The bidding history shows how contested this prize already was before politics entered it. Treasury rejected Gunvor's bid outright in November specifically over its Russia ties. Carlyle had a "nonexclusive" deal since January that simply stalled, administration approval never came, until Boehly's group, with its web of Trump-adjacent investors, emerged as the frontrunner instead. Hui Chen, a former DOJ prosecutor, called the entanglement "alarming," asking the question that actually matters: whether personal interests are shaping which bidder wins, not whether the deal itself has legitimate strategic value.
@anneapplebaum 's framing is sharper than "conflict of interest" because it names the mechanism rather than just the appearance: Putin raising a deal that personally enriches people in Trump's orbit, during active negotiations over a war Russia is still waging, with US policy response visibly muted while Russian strikes on Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure escalate.
Whether or not any law is broken, Applebaum's point is that the incentive structure itself, a Russian president offering access to wealth to the exact people negotiating peace terms, doesn't require explicit payment to function as leverage. It only requires the other side to have something to gain from staying quiet.
This is also the fourth story in a month tracing wealthy, Russia-or-Gulf-linked figures into Trump's immediate orbit, after Kremlev's wedding gift, the A7 sanctions-evasion network, and Sokolov's Armenia mine deal. The pattern isn't one scandal, but a recurring structure.
‼️ IMPORTANT STORY TO FOLLOW: The broader West has once again missed a major development in Ukraine’s war technologies.
Last week, the Ukrainian military released information about a new technology that has helped it gain an advantage during the ongoing Vivaldi counteroffensive, but the news went almost unnoticed.
Basically, Ukrainians combined flying drones with unmanned ground vehicles, essentially robots, to operate deep in the Russian rear and carry out strike and sabotage missions without infantry.
It sounds like science fiction: flying robots delivering ground robots that can perform tasks traditionally carried out by infantry, participate in assault operations, and help liberate Ukrainian territory while reducing risks to Ukrainian soldiers.
These operations are being carried out by NC13, a strike UGV unit within Ukraine’s Third Army Corps.
The tactic is called Gryphon, and it was an important secret part of Operation Vivaldi, a major Ukrainian counteroffensive that has already restored Ukrainian control over 176 square kilometers (68 square miles), of territory.
Ground robotic systems are carrying out 80% of logistics and 90% of casualty evacuations during the current Operation Vivaldi.

The Flydubai injured pilot has given his incredible account of the nearly fatal terrorist attack by his Omani copilot:
-Initially the copilot asked to pray 5 minutes before the attack began the Pilot thought this was unusual but thought nothing of it, 5 minutes later he was struck viciously in the back of the head.
-The pilot vision blurred and was unable to defend himself momentarily, a brutal fight then ensued between him and the co pilot who was using a cabin axe to stab him repeatedly, at one point he managed to open the door and scream for help but the copilot managed to shut and lock the door.
-The pilot severely injured now at this point lying on the floor then noticed the plane dramatically dip in altitude with the copilot pointing its nose down, and people outside the cabin door banging and screaming.
-In a last ditch effort the pilot manages to fight his way past the copilot and unlock the cabin door once again, allowing the crew and passengers outside to burst in and subdue to copilot as well as stabilise the plane.
Incredible video shows a Russian drone attempting to destroy a Ukrainian ground robot but being disabled when the robot deploys an anti drone net and catches it.
We literally have robots fighting each other on Ukraine’s frontline.
BUDANOV: UKRAINE PAID IN BLOOD FOR THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE ITS OWN FUTURE 🇺🇦🇷🇺
Kyrylo Budanov says Ukraine 🇺🇦 will not accept negotiations conducted through ultimatums, threats or coercion.
“You don't talk to us with ultimatums. Ukraine has already shown that it will not surrender its national interests under pressure.”
Budanov pointed to Ukraine’s refusal to accept Russia’s 🇷🇺 demands despite the enormous human cost of resistance.
“We refused Russia’s demands, even when the price was incredibly high. We paid with blood, but we defended our right to decide our own future.”
His position on any future negotiations is equally explicit: sovereignty and Ukrainian national interests must form the basis of the process, not pressure imposed from outside.
“Any negotiations must be based on respect, sovereignty and Ukraine’s national interests, not on threats or coercion.”
