8th grade sculpture students did a great job creating altered books. Shout out to Ms. Bousquet for providing students with books! @librarianac@eastcarymiddle
Having the opportunity to advocate for students, inclusive school spaces + equity-centered librarianship is a dream. Thank you @sljournal + @Scholastic for supporting School Librarians as we work to protect joyful libraries and our students' intellectual freedom!
Our students did an amazing job taking on the role of Disease Detectives. They researched a disease, wrote a scenario of how an outbreak could occur on campus, and completed a report to communicate to others how to prevent future outbreaks from happening. @eastcarymiddle
Egypt Day in 6th grade!! Thank you to our special guest speaker who shared about her amazing travels in Egypt!! Ms. Bousquet is also celebrating the history of Egypt; check out some books she has highlighted in the Media Center!!

I've loved working this week with the 6th grade ELA team! Students researched a historical figure who has achieved success while facing adversity and are now writing and performing monologues from that person's perspective. @CWhitacre3@eastcarymiddle#AIGImps
Research Day 3- the work begins! After a brief check in as a group students spread out in the media center in some cozy spots (some with study buddie) and started to dive into their research and notes! Happy researching to all! @koalasrule1@librarianac#eastcarymiddleschool
Research Day 2! All about plagiarism and how to properly site sources. Students really enjoyed our opening conversation based on @librarianac's hook. Did you ever notice that Ice Ice Baby sounds a lot like Under Preasure?

Day 2: plagiarism lesson!! Students learned why this is such an important concept in research. Students listened to two famous songs (can you guess which ones?) and discussed their point of view on the issue.

Research day one in the media center! Learning how to organize for a research project and collect good resources. Thank you @librarianac for setting these kiddos up for success. @koalasrule1#eastcarymiddle
Loved watching students use the information they gathered as they debated tap water v. bottled water. Strong feelings and points on both sides! 💧@eastcarymiddle
