Had to create an Eventbrite account to login, then reregister once logged in, download Webex, and by that time the Symposium was full. I tried get setup 15 minutes earlier too. Not really accessible!
I do have a serious question. Has any library done away with summer reading programs and opted for a more cohesive year round approach? Every year the prep leading up to summer reading almost gives me a stroke.
A family of 10 tried to come in the library by pulling up their shirts as masks. I'm documenting all this so y'all know how got 1 million cases in a week and in case I die of Covid maybe someone will avenge me.
A lady is yelling at me cause we don't go out into the stacks when open so I gave good instructions on where to find the book she wanted but that was rude to her and "she came out during a pandemic to get Harry Potter so I should have gotten it for her" #publiclibraries
A pregnant woman tried to hoist her maskless toddler up onto this sculpture of a cat we have on a high shelf like it's a pony. She got pissed when I told her she can't do that and when I told her we are only open browsing, checkout, or computers not for playing #publiclibraries
Another stellar day at your public library in a pandemic. Woman muttering to an empty stroller yelling at staff refusing to keep her mask on so I had to ask her to leave and she called me a pig. #publiclibraries
DMV told a man to come here for help renewing his license. We told him we can get him on a computer but not offering help due to the pandemic. He won't take no for answer and wants to use my coworker's cellphone to call the police on the library cause we are dumb.#publiclibraries
Today has been the day from library hell. If I die of Covid, please let it be known it's because people can't wait for curbside they have to come in and get their Harry Transphobe Potter right now. I'll be saying in my sleep "please you need to wear your mask." #publiclibraries
@miss_amandamae But they weren't sleeping. And the person whose car it is was no where to be found. Some unknown person was in the car. Forensics came out. I think everyone is weirded out but more worried about being a polling place tomorrow.
Well we finally lost library roulette. It was a dead body this time and not someone sleeping. It was in foot car lady's car but wasn't her. She lived in her car in our parking lot. It was a man but not the man who sometimes lives in the car with her. She was nowhere to be seen
@miss_amandamae Fine for the most part. Not the first time someone has died in thr parking lot. A person fishing in the lake reported the body in the car and told our maintenance crew. Since it was the car of someone who lives in our parking lot, they were like no they are sleeping
After a week of being open to the public, I honestly think we were serving our community better when were just doing curbside, select libraries doing computer appointments, and us focusing on virtual service.
