@bassfucker69 I get to have both because languages as a topic for me is perfectly described by the "special interest" description but I hyperfixate on specific languages and cannot focus on one long term without external motivation to do so (like all my classes being in that language).

@kareem_carr In my area they just built the start of the freeway to in a way that was clearly intended to go through our neighborhood and then when they didn't get permission to demolish our neighborhood they argued it would cost the city too much to divert it away so the city let them do it.

@TiramisuBunnyVT Definitely get unemployment. If you qualify for it then you earned it since it's based on your previous work. It's literally insurance paid for by you and your work. People complaining about it don't understand that it is earned and it is limited so you can't even rely on it long

@Larryjamieson_ I've only had this happen once. it turned out the app we use to communicate the schedule wasn't updating for him. Which I already knew because mine doesn't update until I'm physically in the building for some reason. But my supervisor had to be convinced to hear him out.

@lollipoplipsbb @financedystop Mine averaged $130 for years, and then the power company was found to have been overcharging by a lot and was forced to give people either refunds or free electricity for a certain amount of time. (I was moving out of the affected area, so I took the check.)

@Hot_Pepper76 I have the problem on the other side where the place I work only takes cash or card and they look at me like they don't know what that means and just keep listing apps asking if we take them. We don't. (I think they hear "cash" stop listening and pull up Cash app.)

@goblinodds @insipidwanker Pauses last for a certain number of beats. The beat never pauses. You can count the length of a pause by counting the beat. During that time, you continue to do CPR on each of those beats in the pause.

@Autistic_Lauren It's like I am suddenly unable to process any new information. What I see and hear makes no sense. Outwardly it looks like I'm responding badly to a specific stimulus that triggered it but most of what people are seeing is a reaction to being unable to process my surroundings.

@EndOfDaysWoman My library doesn't advertise it as a service, but our larger branches do this on request. You might like to call or email your library and see if any of your local branches do this. Some libraries will also do reference interviews at the desk to create a list of books for you

@IJoukov @PanickedFoodie Each year in my system about 500-1000 accounts become inactive and of those only about half are renewed. Most people who come in asking to renew haven't used the library in 5 years. Most renewals I actually do are people who are not there to renew their account.

@IJoukov @PanickedFoodie Unsure how our database system charges us. If it's based on space used or number of records kept. There isn't a lot of labor involved in renewing an account. I guess what it costs to keep the library staffed for one minute? We're there regardless of the task we're doing.

@PanickedFoodie @IJoukov I believe Libby charges based on copies of books and number of checkouts on those books? I'm not in collection development so I'm not 100% sure. But I believe for Libby the library purchases a license for a certain number of checkouts per copy of a book.

@Ressniee I feel the same way. All my D&D attempts are disastrous. I'm going to try other tabletop RPGs but since a lot of people are unfamiliar with other ones, I will have to DM them myself. I am currently planning an Inspirisles campaign.
