I wrote a play about working in the library and my university performed it last spring. It’s here for you to view if you feel - it’s about 20 minutes long, but you might get a kick out of it! https://t.co/ZnOpqdSRJM it starts at 57:30. #librarylife#libraryproblems
Back on my trivia bullshit. (Blocked my location/schedule info) but Thought you guys might appreciate my flyer - I assembled BB-8 via shapes and grouping! Everything else is just combined canva elements but I’m esp. proud of the horse. How’s programming for you? #librarylife
710 architecture. (Why have I memorized the Dewey lmao). I guess I could talk about the architecture of the library which makes zero sense. What about you? #librarylife
Saturday shifts are so busy and so quick, I hardly remember to document what I experience. But the next 3 Saturdays, we’ll have a full time JR person, so I’ll be desk-free! More time to report in on the wonderful patrons we’re dealing with 🙌🏻
Okay it’s been a while but I’ve had these gems saved on my phone from a few weeks ago. I specifically love the call number on the third picture. #librarylife#pageproblems
Our next project? Comics and first chapter. Then I will make my way back to jr fiction - which I already weeded last year, but missed some condition, and can now weed for 2016 and earlier. #librarylife#pageproblems
Okay small update: my Saturdays consist of sitting at the hybrid children’s desk, stopping people from leaving our one open floor, and answering reference, YES reference questions. My coworkers are still miserable and most of the Saturday full timers, 1 per weekend, are useless
Over the course of a month, I’ve taken a cart of holiday down with me to the hybrid desk and between patrons I’ve been weeding New Years to kwanza. I finally finished!!! With just a shelf to spare. Now someone will have to shelfread!!
Can’t believe I’ve never shared this - Last summer, I made a playlist about hating my coworkers - mostly high school kids who think they get paid to do nothing. Made the shifts go so much faster. (Also so many of the people who inspired this didn’t come back after the furlough)🙌🏻
Hoping to finish weeding the holiday section tomorrow. Since we’re not allowing patrons past the first floor, we’ve had all this time to withdraw and revamp the collection. It will truly be a whole new library when the public is allowed back up #justlibrarythings
In addition to imposing a maximum number of people who can be in the library building at a time, we’re also limiting youth patrons to no more than a single hijink or shenanigan per visit.
Here is a collection of things I found at the library last week. An egg....man. And we’re having construction in fiction - so they just. Piled. The books. Like this? This is the first weekend I won’t be working the hybrid desk, so here’s hoping I have more to show you tomorrow.
