Under the directives of the President of the Libyan Relief and Humanitarian Aid Authority, Salem Bouzreida, and in cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP)a food basket distribution campaign was launched on Sunday, April 13, 2025, targeting the Sudanese community in Libya.
These efforts fall within the framework of the humanitarian role carried out by the Authority, in partnership with international organizations, to ensure the provision of nutritional and health support to the most vulnerable groups.
Food remains one of the essential needs that the Authority seeks to provide on a continuous basis, especially amid the growing demand. The project also includes an important health component, where nutrition levels are assessed among children and pregnant women,
Al-Fallah confirmed that the distribution will continue for two weeks, with the duration in each city determined based on the number of beneficiary families. He noted that this is the third round of assistance for some families,
The initiative aims to alleviate the suffering of Sudanese families residing in various Libyan cities, given the difficult circumstances they are facing. Anas Al-Fallah, Director of the WFP Project, explained that the distribution began yesterday and covers several areas

As part of his commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts for Sudanese refugees, Mr. Bouzreida visited shelter aid distribution points supervised by operational teams from the Libyan Relief and Humanitarian Aid Authority, with support from the UNHCR.
This comes as part of the Authorityโs efforts to closely understand their humanitarian situation and to follow up on their recommendations with the relevant authorities, while working to enhance the services provided to them.
During the session, the President of the Authority listened to the discussions and comments presented by representatives of the Sudanese community residing in Libya, regarding the challenges and essential needs they face.
The session was organized by the Libyan Relief and Humanitarian Aid Authority, in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
