@PresidentAdaeze I didn’t even know who my mom’s sisters vs her cousins were growing up. I didn’t know who my actual grandma was as a kid. A few matriarchs in my family you wouldn’t know weren’t “mothers” unless you asked. Everything you said still applies (for my family anyway)!

@PresidentAdaeze I grew up being taught that as an African, there was no such thing as cousin/aunt, only siblings and parents. Cousins and aunties were community members we weren't related to. There’s no word (that I know of as I’m not fluent) for aunt/cousin in Lingala.
