In the past month, KyberSwap has faced unprecedented challenges due to the Elastic exploit. Despite this, I am grateful to say that our core business, including the Aggregator and Limit Order functions, remains robust.

Moreover, we will soon be launching our Zap API, an innovative development that will enable dApps, wallets, and other projects to become the most convenient gateways for their users to access DeFi liquidity protocols. This development underscores our commitment to not only sustaining our platform, but also to continuing to contribute to the wider DeFi ecosystem.

However, due to the Elastic exploit, in a move to stand by affected users, we implemented the KyberSwap Elastic Exploit Treasury Grant Program to cover up to 100% of users’ losses. We have also made significant changes in our business operations to ensure we are well positioned to continue on a sustainable path forward, including temporarily pausing our liquidity protocol initiatives and KyberAI project.

Regrettably, we have also reduced our workforce by 50%. The past few days have been among the most challenging in my journey as an entrepreneur. The decision to part ways with so many of our team members was heart-wrenching. Each individual is not only highly skilled, but also deeply committed to advancing DeFi and bringing tangible value to end-users. Their unwavering dedication during these tough times has shown great character and passion for the industry. Such talent and integrity are rare in our fast-paced, profit-driven industry.

To support our departing team members, we are creating a voluntary database to connect them with potential opportunities in the web3 space. In relation to the KyberSwap Elastic incident that transpired from 22 November 2023, 10:54:09 PM UTC, resulting in the exploitative swaps by the exploiter that drained approximately $48.8 million of users’ funds from KyberSwap Elastic liquidity pools, we reiterate our unwavering commitment and efforts to support law enforcement and cybersecurity on track-down of the exploiter and recovery of users’ funds taken from them.

We want to assure our users that we are standing by you during this challenging period and that we understand that until funds are recovered that users would continue to have concerns especially those in hardship due to the loss caused by the exploit. As such and notwithstanding that KyberSwap Elastic is a decentralized and permissionless protocol under which users accept risk of use of KyberSwap Elastic and being liquidity providers, as stated in the Terms of Use, we are planning grants from the KyberSwap Treasury to users to ease the hardship from the loss caused by the exploit.

Our present plan is for the KyberSwap Treasury to extend a grant to each user (who lost funds in the exploit and which have not been recovered) of an amount up to the USD value of such funds at the time when such funds were drained from their respective liquidity pools. We are working out the details of the above proposed treasury grant and will announce more details within the next two weeks.

It's been a few days since the exploit attack, and I finally have the time and bandwidth to communicate. I remain fully dedicated to doing everything in my power, alongside the team, to support efforts to bring the attackers to justice.

I've been pushing @KyberNetwork since 2017, from its very first line of code. I've weathered many tough times with the team and successfully navigated multiple crises, getting Kyber back on track and contributing significant value to the space. I'm proud of the Kyber team, I'm proud of the journey we've undertaken, and I especially appreciate all KyberSwap users.

One of Kyber's and my own biggest strengths, I believe, is reliability. We consistently strive to add value and assist others. We've fought battles and made sacrifices to uphold our reputation as our most cherished asset. Despite this devastating attack, we remain committed to preserving our reputation.

Personally, I will do everything within my power to support law enforcement and cybersecurity on their track down and recovery of users’ funds from the attackers to minimize the damage suffered by users due to the attack. Supporting the track down of the attacker and recovery of users’ funds is my top priority from this point onward and will continue to be until every user has been made whole.

The Aggregator API, Zap as a service, and LO API are crucial technologies in this space, and we will continue to maximize their potential. Unfortunately, Kyber Elastic will no longer be operational.

I understand that fund recovery is the primary concern for all users at this time, and I want everyone to know that I'm here, unwavering in my commitment to this cause. Anyone who knows me understands that I won't give up, and I won't cease in my efforts to support the recovery of all users’ funds.
