I wouldn’t be surprised if the lesson their gonna take from this is not that these soulless live action remakes suck balls, but that POC-led movies are the problem
MOANA live-action remake, starring Dwayne Johnson, is now tracking to bomb.
Costing around $200M, it has had pretty bad pre-sales for a while now and will open to $50M-$70M domestically.
What you have to understand is that this phrase isn’t really about the “they” but it’s about recognizing boundaries for the person who’s needs are not being met. Even if you want to but can’t, the other person is the one being affected. Being neurodivergent isn’t a free pass.
He is 100000 percent correct. The second movie tried to bank in on the nostalgia, but in order to that they had to completely go against what ‘Gladiator’ was.
Russell Crowe talks pushing back on studio pressure for sex scenes in Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ and says ‘Gladiator II’ failed to ignite audiences in the same way as the original film because it lacked a “moral core” - Taormina Film Festival
I also want people to be honest about their neglect of their supposed “deep” friendships. You are not close to someone who you only talk to once a year. You are not actively watering the bond. Being “realistic” about adult friendships means creating space for consistent effort.
But this is where the drama is?! You’ve clearly never seen a game where the two teams battle it out on the brink of collapse to avoid penalties. There’s nothing like it!
I know this is a stupid American take... but every time I watch soccer, I cannot figure out the limited substitutions rule. Look how tired these players are. Just let them substitute. Think of how slow basketball would be if the same players had to play 48 minutes straight.
@lRlNACHAN Obviously Bella is beautiful either way but literally every time we saw Taggie in season 2 I had to sigh because I miss that wig. The season 2 hair also looks too contemporary because it’s literally the ‘it style’ right now and to me it looks weirdly out of place on the show
I just finished East of Eden this morning. I'm not religious at all but Steinbeck looked me in the eye and said: you are not destined to be your worst self; you are not condemned by your past; you get to choose, every single day, you get to choose. This book doesn't need you to believe in God (I judged it too harshly and quickly). It only needs you to believe in people...the terrifying, beautiful fact that we are capable of both darkness and light, and that the choice between them is always, stubbornly, ours. Honestly, one of the most devastating things I've ever read.
"The most obvious way [air conditioning] worsens the problem is by raising energy demand"
No one ever says this about heating, even though 1) heating is more energy-intensive than air conditioning, and 2) it's easier to heat yourself up (put on a coat!) than cool yourself down
