So many people still just don’t see it, it’s really quite incredible.

Let’s walk through the ask here and discuss how to *truly* solve it. The chains mentioned don’t matter, the key is the ask:

“Need to make this better (sending USDC, but likely applies to crypto more broadly) for ~mainstream adoption~”

Let’s start with the most obvious of question: *who*, precisely, needs to make it better?

It’s not going to be @JasonYanowitz or @blockworks

It’s not going to be the degen community…

It’s certainly not going to be normie newcomer users…

It’s not going to be ETF issuers or TradFi institutions…

What he is asking is for “the devs” to make it better, and by better he means: more intuitive, faster, cheaper, likely abstracting away the chain and having orchestration to ensure the end goal is met in the fastest, cheapest, most secure way (maybe with a sliding scale for each option for the user).

Ok, so we’ve established that @JasonYanowitz (and presumably many others like him) would like for “the devs” to improve the user experience by optimizing the various protocols for speed and cost effectiveness, while also abstracting choice away from the user and making interfaces more intuitive.

Which devs?

Protocol devs?

Protocol devs don’t build the interfaces users use. They also don’t build the smart contracts, that allow for secure, auditable, transparent execution.

So protocol devs to make it faster & cheaper.

But what about the more intuitive interface?

Well, that would be front end devs, but front end devs build interfaces, they cannot do anything about the plethora of choices, they cannot do anything about the speed or cost. They can build a more intuitive application but without an orchestration and communication layer it won’t actually do anything.

Ok, so we’ve established that protocol devs and front end devs have a role to play, what about smart contract devs, backend devs, middleware devs?

It takes lots of devs to actually do what @JasonYanowitz is requesting. Devs that have different skill sets, use different tools, write code in different languages, and have worked on different chains.

These various devs need each other to accomplish this ask, but they largely work independent of one another, which is not a problem in and of itself, assuming a robust ecosystem of other devs building the pieces they will need.

There’s 1 glaring problem though, there’s simply not enough devs.

There’s about 23k devs building in web3, only about 8k building in web3 full time.

The developer experience sucks, many devs come to the space, realize they have to learn a new language, and all the tools except their IDE have to be thrown away.

Worse yet, to build across different platforms, they have to learn many new languages, work with many new tools, learn a multitude of new frameworks.

They soon realize that doing so would take multiple years, and cost millions of dollars to even make a dent.

The space is fragmented, and getting worse, the space lacks cohesion, and it’s getting worse.

The focus on UX is shallow. Is it important yes, but it skips the most important part of the equation, it handwaves away HOW you get a better UX.

That’s by offering a Universal dApp Engine *cough* @VersatusLabs *cough*. A Universal dApp engine integrates the fragmented ecosystem and provides a >100x improvement in the developer experience, enabling devs to use the languages and tools they already mastered, instead of asking them to start from scratch.

Then, and ONLY then, will waves of developers move into web3. Then and ONLY then will the resources be available, ideas be innovative enough, and competition be strong enough to actually deliver a better UX and multiple killer use cases.

Until then you’re preaching to empty pews.
