Adventures of Dave Stegman (Prof @ Scripps Oceanography), hi/him. I using virtual submarines to explore the depths of planetary interiors. Inactive account.
thx @EGU_GD for the opportunity to contribute!! and by "draws parallels" you mean how early antarctic exploration was a male-dominated activity in which catastrophic failures were heralded as huge successes, that's for sure one of 'em. I hope a deeper message transcends all that.
In this week's blog, Dave Stegman (Associate Professor at Scripps Institution of Oceanography) draws parallels between being a scientist and being an Antarctic explorer @lifetectonic@Scripps_Ocean@EuroGeosciences#EGUBlogs https://t.co/uwsdKx2Tax
yes, it's time to rethink what you're doing here. i highly recommend you watch this video (all 98 minutes!) to learn how a different future is waiting for us should we choose to make it happen. learn how to join the fight against surveillance capitalism.☮️https://t.co/naKLMP73Jj

State budget support for the University of California system has waned considerably since the 1980s.
In turn, the UC relied more on tuition revenue. Today the UC's core funding for academics is made up almost equally from state dollars and student tuition https://t.co/BOk4WNprFw
