And Trump has already warned Canada: push too far toward China and 100% tariffs could only be the beginning.

To be clear, the 100% tariff hasn't happened yet. It's a threat. But imagine what happens if it does.

Canadian companies trying to sell into America suddenly become ridiculously expensive. Orders disappear. Factories shutter. Hours get cut. Jobs disappear. And eventually that pain reaches every Canadian family.

Meanwhile we're hearing “Who cares?” about talking to Trump.

America buys roughly three-quarters of Canada's merchandise exports. You don't replace that market overnight by shaking hands with China.

This isn't about liking Trump. I couldn't care less whether Carney likes the man.

His job is to protect Canadians.
