🚨 The FBI's Secret Stash Finally Revealed

The FBI has begun uncovering and reviewing a long-hidden trove of records known as "prohibited access" files, a secretive parallel filing system that has operated for decades outside normal oversight and search protocols.

According to sources familiar with the matter, a task force under FBI Director Kash Patel is now examining these materials, some of which have already been provided to Congress amid ongoing internal debates about their handling.

This development follows years of pressure from congressional oversight, particularly from Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who has worked with whistleblowers to expose the existence of these files.

Grassley described the system as a "secret stash" that previous administrations made little effort to address. "If it weren’t for whistleblower disclosures to my office, the very existence of the FBI using ‘Prohibited Access’ files for some investigations would have remained in the dark," he stated.

He has requested specific records from Attorney General Pam Bondi and Director Patel, noting that while some have been delivered, others are still outstanding. "I urge the DOJ and FBI to keep digging...

The FBI’s secret stash of records is scandalous."These "prohibited access" files are engineered to evade detection: when queried in the FBI's SENTINEL database, they generate false negatives, effectively rendering them invisible to most users.

Access is extremely limited—restricted to a handful of senior officials, often at the deputy director level or higher—echoing historical practices of physically locked files dating back to at least the Nixon era.

The implications are profound for an agency responsible for federal law enforcement and counterintelligence.

As one retired FBI supervisory analyst put it, uncovering these is "like turning over a manhole and finding a whole city," rather than just a few isolated issues.

A legal analyst emphasized that "you don’t run a Constitutional republic on secret files." A current government insider called the designation "literally designed to hide files from Congress and from the FBI itself," describing it as "really frigging bad."

The files appear to span at least 25 years, dating back to around 1999 and crossing multiple administrations from both parties.

They include potentially hundreds of case numbers and involve off-books activities, such as surveillance and disruption efforts tied to investigations like Arctic Frost (related to post-2020 election matters) and the Trump-Russia probe.

No formal rules govern the transfer of access across administrations; instead, it's reportedly maintained as an informal, oral tradition among a small circle of senior FBI officials, insulated from lower-level agents, political appointees, Congress, and even the White House.

This revelation comes as Patel has taken steps to end the "prohibited" categorization practice, following discoveries—including subpoenaed phone records of his own and others—that were buried in such files during prior administrations.

The ongoing review represents a significant shift toward greater transparency, though challenges remain in fully excavating and accounting for decades of concealed records.
