Doing an homage is fine, the song is cool for its reference. But the lack of imagination to do it even a little different just kind of illustrated how uninspired a lot of pop music is for me. I know this is crank shit but it was a bummer to hear it broken down that obviously.

Just listened to the Song Exploder episode on Haim's "Summer Girl" and it made me like the song a lot less.

Mostly because of Rostam on production. Like, "Oh I heard it and it had a real 'Walk on the Wild Side' vibe. That song has two bass lines, so we had the idea to add a second bass. And it has a sax solo, so we thought, maybe we should have a sax solo."
