@xManedge @CyCosmicCat I'm assuming there will be a hidden MMR (true rank) used for SBMM, and your in game rank will approach the hidden rank over the season since better players will receive many more points for a win at any given rank below their "true rank".
The Trials matchmaking algorithm this week makes so much sense to me:
- The more skilled a team is, the less luck is required to go flawless.
- The 7 matchmaking pools (15 after flawless pool) are consolidated into 1 large pool allowing better average connection quality.
@ishaneidig @senorguar Over a long period you'll win a number of games equivalent to your skill percentile, so an average team will win around 50% of their games. This predictability means Bungie could adjust loot accessibility very specifically by changing the number of losses before a card is flawed.
@iamthemann66 No, I would absolutely love a ranked mode where I could play other top 1% players every game and sweat for ranks. I just think for Trials specifically, the single player pool format suits it better than win based format.
@trevorramlow Game 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 7 win card (non flawless)
Game 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 7 win card (flawless)
Should actually should be 8 to 15 since once the flawless pool is released the 7 win card pool in the original pool disappears.
@senorguar Both formats are feasible. In card based it's like a knockout tournament, where the players get better and better, whereas with the current format it's putting you against random teams and you have to win 7 in a row, which requires less luck as you get better. I prefer the latter
@hartattack05 I think changing the number of losses before a card is flawed from 1 to 3 (or more) is the ideal solution - that way Bungie could make the flawless loot accessible to as many people as they desire and the player pool size isn't compromised giving optimal p2p connection.
