Nenad Rašković, a Serb from the village of Dren (Zubin Potok) claims he was severely beaten by Kosovo Police officers late yesterday afternoon.

According to his testimony (recorded at the hospital and published by Kosovo Online) and a statement from the Serb List:

• Three police officers entered his family home, knocked him down, and beat him with a wooden stick.
• They demanded a rifle he says he does not own.
• They then took him into a nearby forest, tied him to a beech tree, covered his mouth with a cloth, and beat him with a water hose.
• While assaulting him, they allegedly pressured him to confess to a war crime against Albanians during the war.
• He was left tied to the tree until friends freed him.
• Upon returning home, he says officers continued intimidating his son and harassing his wife (who is Albanian), telling him they would return the next day and pressuring him to leave for Albania.

Rašković was taken to the health centre in Zubin Potok and then to the Clinical Hospital Centre in Kosovska Mitrovica, where he is under medical observation. Preliminary reports mention multiple injuries and possible fractured ribs. Local residents describe him as an honest man with no prior criminal record.

Kosovo Police have stated they have no information that any of their officers beat anyone and that the case has been referred to the Police Inspectorate.

The Serb List has strongly condemned the alleged treatment and called for an urgent, independent investigation, urging KFOR and EULEX to examine the claims.

This remains an allegation under investigation. Full transparency and a thorough, impartial probe are essential.

Petar Petković, Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija (Republic of Serbia), condemned "the savage beating" of Rašković and called for an urgent international response and investigation into the brutal attack on Nenad, as well as punishment for all those responsible.

He added that for weeks, months, and years, Belgrade had been warning the entire international community about what he described as the Kurti regime's abuse of Serbs, which had led to this.
"When there are no sanctions against those responsible and no adequate protection, these are the consequences. What was done to Nenad must not go unpunished,"

The situation in Kosovo has been deteriorating recently, especially after a series of reported abuses by Kosovo Police against Serbs.

My personal stance on Kosovo is that returning it, even peacefully, would be the death sentence for Serbian polity. Serbia would have to federalize or even confederalize; it would have to implement a complicated power-sharing vetocracy like we see in neighboring Bosnia; it would have to stretch its thin budget to subsidize the most underdeveloped region in the entire Balkans; its entire political dynamic would shift toward ethnic competition, as it once did between Serbs and Croats in the first Yugoslavia, which effectively killed off Serbian democracy.

To my mind, Serbia has two interests in Kosovo: to secure substantial political autonomy for Kosovo Serbs, and this has to be written down in a binding international agreement because laws and constitutions can always be changed, and there have to be control mechanisms to guarantee the agreement's implementation; and to ensure that Kosovo never gets annexed by Albania, because we abide by the rule of no more border changes in the Balkans. Otherwise, the question of Republika Srpska would be reopened.

Najveća kvazipatriotska podvala je to što se nečiji patriotizam meri njegovom spremnošću da brani najsramotniju deceniju i najgore pojedince u istoriji naše zemlje.

Sada se to polako menja, pa se patriotizam meri stepenom fascinacije Putinovom Rusijom.

Kako drugačije objasniti paradoks da je “autentičnim nacionalistima” upravo Ukrajina glavni predmet mržnje poslednih godina.

Zbog čega?
Stava o Kosovu?
Njihov predsednik je danas rekao da je za njih Kosovo sastavni deo Srbije.

Zbog bombardovanja?
Ukrajina nas nije bombardovala, naprotiv , pružala nam je iskrenu i konkretnu podršku.

Čime je ta država i čime je taj narod zaslužio da ih gomila opskurnih tipova naziva “ukronacistima”, da ih vređa, kune i želi im sve najgore?

Šta je njihov greh, što se nisu predali i nisu mirno gledali kako Putin pokušava da ih sravni sa zemljom?
I kakve to veze ima sa Srbijom, čime su nas povredili?

Licemerno je do bola kada se suverenistima nazivaju oni koji interes Rusije stave ispred interesa Srbije.

Licemerno je kada proevropski orijentisane ljude nazivaju vazalima oni koji ne smeju kritički da pomisle , a kamoli kažu nešto protiv režima u Moskvi.

Od proevropskih stranaka , političara i građana ste milion puta mogli da čujete otvorene i oštre kritike na račun mnogih EU predstavnika i brojnih poteza.
Kada ste to čuli od proruskih stranaka prema režim u Moskvi?

Ko od njih je tražio da se zaustavi njihova podrška Vučiću?
Kada?

Patriote?
Suverenisti?

Zelenskyy is sensibly investing in his relationship with Vucic because, as a leader at war, he needs to do everything possible to ensure his country's success. Know one who truly understands the Western Balkans believes he will succeed but he must try.

The only thing to be feared, ultimately, is the cackling chorus of Western would-be experts who will use Saturday's meeting between the two as further 'evidence' of Belgrade's purported Western-turn. Zelenskyy will realize himself soon enough that there is nothing to it, and act accordingly. This Western appeaser cohort, however, will allow no evidence whatsoever to dissuade them of their (often very profitable) romance with Vucic.
