@nickmas837@BillSimmons Brunson is great, but if the team was succeeding in LARGE part because of him you'd think the impact numbers would show it just like they do for Wemby/Steph/Dirk/Lebron/KG/Kawhi etc.
@nickmas837@BillSimmons The logic is to ignore everything and go off vibes for who the "alpha" is? He was great/clutch and an insane game 5 but he still averaged 42% and the team had the same +/- with him off the court vs on the court. It wasn't too dominant a performance (to put him over Nash/Harden)
@jga41agher@Aj24233 Of the last dozen championships, an equal number of teams had a better defensive rating ranking to # of teams with a better offensive rating ranking.
And KG > Dirk in metrics that include boxscore stats like RAPTOR, and also in winning impact metrics like EPM/RAPM w/o stats
@jga41agher@thfcaditya_v3@PenguinHoops Amateur argument. All-stars don't necessarily correlate with winning impact.
2011 Mavs had one of the best 7-8 man lineups in modern history. Kidd just came off an all-star season, DPOY candidate Chandler, 2nd place 6MOY Jason Terry only behind prime Odom. Peja, Marion, Barea??
@wyte_shadoe@jga41agher You really didn't watch the games. KG is an all-time help defender, on switches, recovery, transition, plus rim protecting. Going out to guard Dirk at 18 feet negates a lot of KG's value, plus Dirk/KG/KD never get their jumpshots blocked anyway
@jga41agher@DreDay911 Dirk is a legend but I think you have rose-tinted glasses on. Dirk never had top 3 RAPTOR impact while KG did 3 seasons.
Dirk had 3rd best 5-year RAPM once.
KG had top 3 for ten seasons in a row. First for six of those.
@jga41agher Look up the definition of elimination game - it was not one for Dirk. In H2H even including the 3-0 series, in 47 games Dirk won 23, KG 17 Pts: Dirk (23.1 vs 21.8) FG%: KG (51.8 vs 46.7) Reb: KG (11.5 vs 8.2) Ast: KG (4.3 vs 2.1) Stl: KG (1.2 vs 0.6) Blk: KG (1.2 vs 0.8)
@jga41agher In 40 head-to-head matches, Dirk 58%TS, BPM:+5, On/off: +5 per 100 poss. KG 58%TS, BPM:+8, On/off:+16 per 100 poss.
Dirk was top 3 only twice for 3-year RAPM stints. KG was top 3 nine times.
Have you looked at any impact metrics or do you only look at points per game?
@jga41agher Are you referring to a 3-game series where KG averaged 24/19/5/2/2? How is that cooked. If you watched the games you'd also notice KG wasn't always guarding Dirk. Dirk went on a heater but he didn't "cook KG" brother.
Remind me how many assists Dirk had in 3 games? Was it 1 or 2
@TahoeWeather For next weekend the models are at odds with each other, potentially a lot of precipitation if the GFS is correct, but which model is the opensnow mountain forecasts assuming is correct or is it taking a conservative average?
