@mssinenomine I'm probably paraphrasing somewhat but IIRC Chrétien's response was "at least I don't talk out of both sides of my mouth," a masterful clapback at political two-facedness.
AFAIK it's the only time that Bells Palsey has been the source of an attempted political slur.
@mssinenomine Indeed. It's troubling that the problem is centred on those who 'have to watch' rather than ways of supporting those actually experiencing medical/disability issues of whatever sort.
Don't like the way I look? There are at least 340° of other directions to look at instead.🙄😡
@mssinenomine@anenigma420 EXCELLENT visual and tactile sidewalk analogy!🔥
I rewatched the original awhile ago and what struck me as now being anachronistic is that everyone genuinely wanted to know anything the science grad student might know to save themselves, instead of ignoring her completely. 😬
@mssinenomine 😡 Words fail me, except for "completely unsurprised." I suspect it happens here and elsewhere in Canada but also I feel as though our local news coverage is so gutted we are unlikely to hear of most such incidents. 😡😡😡😢😢😢
@mssinenomine@stripe I'm definitely concerned and hope you are able to get this resolved properly. 🙂
The ongoing trend of putting the onus of solving a corporate/organisational/government problem on individuals is disgusting.
😡
FFS please decide which falsehood you want to use to support your ableist straw bans?
First it was a single turtle with straw in his nose - litter issue, vast majority not originating from N. America, but regardless litter can be addressed other ways.

@mssinenomine It's vile and evil. And this worry is always on the back of my mind, too: Decades of non-optional Rx meds.
I suspect I will be dead within 1 set of blister packs +/- a few days when (someday) my family doc is gone, not due to self-harm but due to sudden cessation of required Rx.
No changes to pronouns, eh?
So they have to pick one?
Depending on context, I might be referred to by many pronouns - I, me, my, myself, he, him, himself, his, they, them, their, whom, whose...
And that's only in English. What about French class?
@SwiftOnSecurity Not a laptop--well beyond my means as well as too heavy for me to carry safely--but the only reason I was able to complete my undergrad in the early 1990s was due to finding an Atari Portfolio for notetaking as my arthritis was too severe to manage by hand. Did exams on it too!
@mssinenomine I had no idea this sort of feature existed on modern ones until I first plugged one in. At first I was annoyed at yet another thing having lights when there are other obvious visual clues (eg: steam) that it is working.
But like you, I was soon enraptured by the whole thing. 😀
@mssinenomine No, thank you (very much appreciate the offer!) but I would prefer help goes to others with no resources (pls also check your DMs). 🙂
(In worst-case emergency I do have people who can help provide temp support for the worst of it. Long-term is the problem for ALL of us.)
@mssinenomine I *do* have people checking on me daily by phone so it is unlikely the worst-case described above would happen to me. 🙂
But my gut tells me that's what it would take for beancounters to give a crap about changing these rules. 😡
@mssinenomine When we have wildfire smoke, then nothing I have done can adequately mitigate the constantly-building interior heat.
My lungs are still trashed from last year's multi-month toxic air spree, so just risking it isn't an option.
@mssinenomine Exactly so. While this is most definitely NOT the way I would prefer to die, if that is the way it goes, I hope they *don't* find me quickly. Perhaps a unit that requires enormous sums of money/time to remove and remediate a severe biohazard will make them rethink policy. 😡😡😡
