Last year, I started investigating a 1997 murder for a class. Most people who knew about this case were too scared to speak to me.
I couldn’t fathom why.
But as I peeled back the layers, I started discovering things I wasn’t meant to know. 1/
tw: murder, rape, suicide
I’m really the type of person to try with you over & over again sometimes more times than you even deserve. But once I detach my emotions from you, you will never get that same caring person back.
your bad days and times where you have negative thoughts does not mean there is something wrong with you. you are human, and extending compassion towards yourself and your fallibility is key. you got this, happy friday. 🫶🏽
Being called sensitive for reacting to disrespect is manipulation. Manipulative people will intentionally hurt you, then make you feel guilty for reacting to abuse/toxicity. Be set free from that emotional bondage. Your sensitivity/rawness is your strength, gift, and purpose.
How someone reacts or responds to you when you’re genuinely upset about something they did that hurt you — tells you so much. I really can’t emphasize this enough.
I'm "all my friends are hanging out rn & didn't invite me even though I probably couldn't go anyway but now I'm tempted to leave all the gcs cuz I have fomo" toxic.
‘if you don’t heal what hurt you, you’ll bleed on people who didn’t cut you’- a phrase we see a lot. however, it’s true: people who haven’t unpacked or taken the steps to heal their trauma/past wounds, often hurt or traumatise those who mean them no harm - and the cycle continues
we cannot expect people to provide emotionally safe spaces for us, if we are unwilling to do the work and effectively provide the same spaces for them, too.
u might think people only need to heal from bad relationships. but the truth is people are healing from hateful parents, betrayal from friends, sibling feuds, academic problems, stressed in their works. always remind that not everything is about romantic relationships.
When getting in relationships, which are completely voluntary, do we not find it bizarre that at times people choose not to give their partners the things that make them feel loved and safe? -thread
