The only player in NHL history to tally over 500 goals and 2500 penalty minutes, yet somehow isn't in the Hall of Fame. *to be clear, not actually Pat Verbeek*
172 - Pat Verbeek
Verbeek played right wing 20 years for 5 teams. He was a 2x All-Star that had a career high here in Hartford in ‘89-‘90 with 44 goals, and 89 points. He won the Cup in Dallas in ‘99. In ‘85 he lost his thumb in an auger accident, but was able to save it.
An auger is a screw blade that’s used for drilling holes, woodworking, or planting. The word comes old English that became “nauger”. People would say “an nauger”, negating the 2nd n, much in the same way “apron” comes from “napron”, and “adder” from “nadder”. #hockeycards

Pat Verbeek took over the Anaheim Ducks in 2022 and had them make the playoffs in four seasons. The Ducks entered a rebuild several seasons after the Red Wings did and took fewer seasons to emerge from the rebuild as a playoff team.
No more excuses for Steve Yzerman. He failed.
Olympians Aneta Tejralová (Czechia) and Alex Carpenter (USA) of PWHL Seattle Torrent helped unveil the Olympics ’26 Exhibit today.
The display features artifacts from participating countries including the Golden Goal pucks from both the Women’s and Men’s overtime Gold Medal games.🏒
