Parents: please start telling your toddler at bedtime that you had fun with them today. Q has started saying it first and him saying "mommy I had so much fun with you tonight when we played in Nana's room" melts my heart. He always says his favorite part of the day. ๐ #toddlers
Even though America kind of sucks right now I will be forever grateful for this fourth of July when my son somehow slept through the fireworks and also slept past 5am this morning.
It can't be said enough that I don't recommend your two year old getting up at 415am for the day. Here is hoping for a better tomorrow. Like I would even take 5am. You can do it kid. #toddlers#tantrumcentral
Just asked my two year old if he needed anything else for dinner and he said "no thanks, I'm all set right now." ๐๐๐ When did he become a polite adult?!
2/2 a week with my patients & their families than I do with my son and husband, so of course I become attached. I hope to always be the doctor who will show up for a family even if I'm not "on call" if that will help them. Especially because it also helps me to get closure. #NICU
1/2: To all my fellow trainees in medicine: never let someone make you feel bad about showing up for a patient or your patient's family. If staying late or coming in outside of your scheduled work hours is something you feel compelled to do, then do it. I easily spend more hours
One of the most frustrating things is having been up for the last 1 hour and 45 minutes going in and out of your son's room to get him to go back to sleep only to have him stand up in his crib and give a rousing rendition of Old McDonald, with crying in between verses. #momlife
@BuffaloBills Thank goodness for the first responders able to provide CPR and utilize the AED so quickly. Wonderful news out of Cincinnati this morning.
Nothing beats the feeling of getting bedtime snuggles with your son after being on nights and missing bedtime for the last 5 nights. Back to operating on normal human hours!
Watching your kid grow up in front of your eyes is the weirdest dichotomy of the most proud you've ever been and also longing for the days when he was tiny. In related news Quentin is not only using a potty, but ASKING to use it, and also can count to three. What. Is. This. ๐ญ๐ญ
It's annoying that kids are so cute. My son between the hours of 2&4am staring into my soul as I rock him and beg him to go to sleep reciting every person he's ever known "momma, dada, nana, Papa, aunt autumn, momma momma momma" I want to both kiss you and yell at you. #nosleep
Being a neonatologist is so crazy. After a wild day I'm reflecting on what a privilege it is to take care of sick babies & their families, how humbling it can be and the resilience of kids. Plus my husband was able to keep Q awake so I didn't miss bedtime. So thankful.
Sometimes it feels like all the stars align... Like when you need to leave the house by 11:30 and your son miraculously goes down easily for a nap at 9:30 like you planned.๐๐๐ #smallwins#parenting#henevernaps
Being a parent is counting down the seconds to bedtime and then having a simultaneous heart explosion watching them sleep while also missing their company.
Something I hate: a professional that I am working with addressing my husband and I as "kids". I don't care how much older than me you are, I am 30 years old, a mother, a home owner, and a doctor. I treat kids, I am not one. #pediatrician
