🌻 BIG NEWS: I’m running for Governor of Kansas. Too many Kansans are struggling to get by, and D.C. politicians are making it worse. Kansans deserve leaders who will put hardworking families over billionaires and special interests. Here’s more about why I’m running: 👇
Today, we celebrate 163 years of Kansas statehood! From our farmers feeding the world to our rolling sunflower fields, Kansans have much to be proud of. I'll continue to do everything in my power to make our state the best place to live, work, & raise a family. Happy #KansasDay!
@mirror_brass This is how the KDHE breaks up Kansas into “trauma” regions. This is the closest I could find to the Kansas History books we had in high school

A Kansas judge has put a new state law on medication abortions on hold and blocked older restrictions that for years have spelled out what providers must tell patients and forced patients to wait 24 hours to end their pregnancies. #ksleg

This is Whitekanda, an area was created by a race war, white fear, the prospect of an all-Black state, stealing land from indigenous people & one of the greatest real estate scams of all time.
It is also the least racist place in America
A thread
SCOTUS struck down AA b/c it’s allegedly discriminatory
Facts:
•AA benefitted white women more than all other groups COMBINED
•43% of white Harvard students are legacy or athlete students—of which 75% would not be admitted otherwise
This ruling is modern day anti-Black racism
The U.S. Supreme Court just took an ADF-filed case that appears made up and granted conservatives an expanded right to discriminate against LGBTQ people.
The court ruled 6-3. The 6 were all GOP-appointed; the 3 were all Dem-appointed.
Happy last day of Pride 2023, y'all.
BREAKING: Michele Obama delivers a deeply moving and powerful response to the Republican-controlled Supreme Court's decision to outlaw affirmative action in university admission considerations.
Mrs. Obama, who is a graduate of both Princeton and Harvard, stated that she was "one of the few Black students" on her campus and she was "proud of getting into such a respected school" because she knew that she had "worked hard for it."
Even so, she "sometimes wondered" if there were people who assumed that she was only there because of affirmation action.
"It was a shadow that students like me couldn’t shake, whether those doubts came from the outside or inside our own minds," said Mrs. Obama.
"But the fact is this: I belonged. And semester after semester, decade after decade, for more than half a century, countless students like me showed they belonged, too," she went on.
She pointed out that it "wasn't just the kids of color who benefitted" from a system with affirmative action because it meant that students would encounter perspectives they had never heard before, have their assumptions challenged, and grow their hearts and minds.
The former First Lady then destroyed the Republican narrative that affirmative action creates an unfair playing field for White Americans.
She stated that there are countless other forms of "special consideration" that factor into admissions because some applicants have parents who attended the same university, others can afford coaches who help them strengthen their athletic talents, and others go to expensive high schools with tutors and test prep.
"We don't usually question if those students belong. So often, we just accept that money, power, and privilege are perfectly justifiable forms of affirmative action, while kids growing up like I did are expected to compete when the ground is anything but level," she said.
She ended by saying that this ruling is a "reminder that we've got to do the work not just to enact policies that reflect our values of equity and fairness, but to truly make those values real in all of our schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods."
Well f*cking said.
RT and ❤️ if you think that Michele Obama nailed it — and consider investing in Tribel, a “woke” new Twitter competitor that is currently doing a round of equity crowdfunding and just blew past $2.1 million raised from 4,500 of its users. If you want to own a small piece of what is quickly becoming the “next big thing” in social media, here is the link to do so, https://t.co/7S6ULL2X5e. You can invest as little as $100 — or as much as you’d like. Here’s the link to download the new Tribel app that Elon Musk is so afraid of: https://t.co/HnJzSKjCwX
The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority on Thursday said it applied for a grant to explore a potential intercity rail system for the metro area.
The rail corridor would impact 15 counties in the area, extending from Topeka to Independence: https://t.co/leZU6JfGO0
The Kansas City Council has just introduced a resolution making Kansas City a Sanctuary City for Trans folks receiving gender-affirming care.
With gender-affirming care still being legal in the state of Missouri, this resolution would codify those rights into city law. (1/2)
BREAKING: Yesterday multiple Republican lawmakers in Michigan voted to uphold a law that banned unmarried couples from living together.
Below State Senator Thomas Albert argues in favor of the law, claiming that it’s better for children to be in a household with married parents. Albert, and other Michigan Republicans also support laws that ban abortions at “all stages of development.”
So Albert not only wants to force mothers to have babies they may not be ready for, but he also wants to break up families with caring unmarried parents when they do choose to have babies out of wedlock.
Stop pretending that Republicans actually care about the kids. They care about painting Democrats as murderers for allowing women to have a choice in deciding to abort conscienceless bean-sized fetuses at 6-weeks for reasons that they have no clue about.
Kansas is now one of only 10 states that have yet to expand Medicaid. If 40 other states can work across the aisle to increase access to affordable healthcare, keep rural hospitals open, and retain healthcare jobs, so can Kansas. #ksleg

The Kansas legislature is surreal. The house just passed a bill to make conceal carry permits free “to help low income gun owners” & the very next bill is making it harder for poor elderly folks to qualify for food assistance.
