One of my daughters best friends, with whom she barricaded Monday night, wrote this. It’s heartbreaking, insightful, powerful all at once. Until you actually experience gun violence directly, you have no clue. This should not be. #MSUStrong
Unfortunately often times providers are so spread thin and burnt out that they’re unable to give full attention to things like this. Definitely a multi-faceted issue but something that should be addressed more imo
It’s crazy how many patients will be described as “combative” or “uncooperative” by providers, when really all they need is a little bit better of communication on our part. Healthcare is so much more than just medical treatment!!
I saw a patient described as “combative.” I got there & he was very guarded & watching John Wick. I started naming the moves in a fight scene (I have a black belt) & suddenly he opened up. He asked if I could stay to watch with him. I realized he wasn’t combative. He was lonely.
